My fiance had a very dark charcoal suit that I'm encouraging him to wear to attend my uncles wedding. I've told him that charcoal is acceptable for the wedding but I'd like some other opinions. Since my dress will be soft garnet, we were thinking about getting a garnet shirt for him to wear...let me know what you think!

I have to correct some people on here.
Black and charcoal is always OK for a man to wear.
Black is not acceptable for a woman to wear for a reception starting before 5:00.
If the recpection starts after 5:00 it's ok to wear a black dress.
Never wear white to a wedding.
And I think you both will look very cute in matching garnet!!

the charcoal suit is fine. many people wear black to weddings these days anyway, so don't worry about it being too dark. i think that would be cute if he wore a tie that matched your dress. i wouldn't get him a garnet shirt b/c if it's a fun wedding he'll want to take off his jacket and then the two of you will look to similiar and that might be too much of one color and look too planned. go with a tie that has the same color as your dress. less obvious that it was planned

A black suit is appropiate for a wedding. The black rule only applies to women.

The charcoal suit would be just fine. Dressing like twins, wouldn't.

These days you can wear black to a wedding & it's perfectly acceptable. The only color to really avoid is white.

Black suits are fine at a wedding- black DRESSES are not.
You don't have to match each other but if you want to that's fine.
