You can skip those 'Sorry, God doesn't exist.' comments and instead give me an answer with some thought behind it.

Why would God want to gather souls to heaven anyway? He's already created angels and cherubim to keep him company for all eternity. So he can't be lonely.

Satan has all the fallen angels to keep him company, so he won't be lonely either.

Are they just playing a game of checkers with us as the pieces?

People are self important and think theirs "souls" are worth something. This makes them think great and powerful beings want a part of them.

No, back in the garden of Eden Satan raised the issue of Universal Sovereignty and who had the right to rule when he intimated to Eve that God was withholding something good. There were many angelic creatures watching this unfold, and his original purpose for the earth did not change. God has allowed humans to rule themselves since then to prove that man cannot rule himself successfully. The issue of Universal Sovereignty affects every human on earth. Deciding who you will follow is your choice-you have free will that God gave you. That is the importance of the issue between God and Satan.

Allah(God) has said in the Quran: I only created jinn and man to worship Me. (Qur'an, 51:56)

He has given Man free will that man may choose to worship Him without compulsion in the manner that he has specified through messages to Prophets and Messengers.

Man has tampered, destroyed, ommitted, changed and so on all the earlier messages until the final and complete guidance of All humanity was secured through Prophet Muhammad(pbuh).

Allah(God) said in the Quran::
And (remember) when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves before Adam.". And they prostrated except Iblîs (Satan), he refused and was proud and was one of the disbelievers (disobedient to Allâh).

Satan has vowed o mislead humans till the Day of Resurrection.

While it may seem a "game" it is truly the most serious and permanent one.
Man despite whether he believe in the message of Islam or not, will qualify to go to Heaven or Hell.
You are on the right path..i.e contemplation, now find out for yourself the true message of islam without media bias, especially Fox News and channels.

I guess you could look at it that way, but, the Checkers pieces are way more valuable in this "game" than in the Checkers game you might play. They are God's own creations, you and I and everyone else, and for Him to have His life affirming creations stolen by some being whose sole purpose is their complete distruction, for no other reason than to have more beings in misery with him, (remember the phrase "Misery loves company"? It never stopped at a certain number of "company" it, misery, would be satisfied with) and to hurt their Creator whom he forsook earlier, puts a much more "heartfelt" value to our souls by God than any Checkers pieces you'll ever find. So, maybe it's a bit more than Checkers or Chess. It's LIFE, in its purest form. God Bless you. You, too, are one of His Most Special Creations!!

God created us to love him. Your right, he's not lonely, just loves you enough to think about you. If you have kids, dont you just like to watch tem sleep, or lay their head on your shoulder. That's the way God is with us.
As far as satan, he's mad hes not God, and wants everybody else to be miserable. Spoiled little brat since ya asked me.

God created us. God loves us. And He is grooming us to live with Him in Heaven. Satan only wants our souls so God can't have them. He's greedy like that.

It's more of a game of deluding ourselves into thinking we have a soul and worrying about where it may or may not end up. It gives people a goal to aspire to. Getting your soul to heaven being succeeding, and failing ending up with Satan...

No! God is not playing games with your soul. You might be, but He isn't.
Jesus Christ Is the Only Way To Heaven!

In The Holy Bible, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6. He meant “I am the only way to God the Father and to heaven”, “I am the only truth that you need to know.” and “I am the only spiritual life available to mankind.” In other words, “I am the only true and living God.”
All other so-called gods are false gods. They are not real. They do not exist. No other so-called god has the power to forgive, cleanse and remove all your sins from you to get you to heaven. They don't even claim to.
I pray you will believe this and accept the fact that you are a sinner needing to be saved from your sins (“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23, The Holy Bible.) and accept the fact that the blood Jesus Christ shed for you at Calvary is the only way you can have your sins forgiven, cleansed and removed and is the only way you can get to heaven. I pray you will acknowledge that you are a sinner and ask Jesus Christ to forgive, cleanse and remove all you sins and accept Him into your heart/life to live for Him the rest of your life. (“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” John 1:12, in the Holy Bible.) That is what it means to be born again. (“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3 in The Holy Bible.)
God loves you and it is not His will that you perish in hell.
(“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” II Peter 3:9 in The Holy bible.)
This is my prayer for you

God just loves you so much he wants you to be with him. It breaks his heart to see people push him away but he does not want to make them love him because it is not true love. that is the extent of his love. So basically he want you with him because he loves you.

No because He loves us and wants us to love Him back, on our own of course.
