think my father has a hearing loss and is in denial. he does not have insurance and really cannot afford a hearing aid.

depends on his age. if he is over 65 he can go through medicare and get a referral to see a doctor. if not, go to your city public hospital or free clinic. since he does not have any insurance , they might make him pay a little bit but not much. and they also have payment plans.
also find out from your friends, maybe someone knows of a good ear and eye doctor, then call their office, plead your case, and maybe they can put him on a payment plan so the hit of a first time bill will not be that much.

Your Local Hospital could do the test...And if you call and talk to them they should help you find a suitible program that will help you pay your bill..
