Yes. As a practising psychotherapist it gives you more credentials over others & is more likely to draw the clients in .Will you do just psychotherapy or something like CBT?

I'll be honest and say I don't know anything about MAs or psychotherapy qualifications but if it's something that you want to do and will feel a sense of achievement after doing it, then go for it. Perhaps you could look into getting some funding help which you might be eligible for? Also, if it benefits your career and wage rates, then it would definitely be worth the initial expense, so long as you can afford to cut back in the meantime... Best of luck with your decision and future.

If you want to go for a Master Degree go for the MSW. MSWs can practice as thereapists in 39 states and in eleven even have the right to identify themselves as psychologists. An MA will get you a $35,000 a year jo coddling delinquents in a shelter somewhere

In Canada and the US you can't become a registered psychologist without your Ph.D. .

Why is this bad? Because you can't get third party payments (from insurance, government, etc.).

If you're going to get your MA only, you should be ready to only do private payment, private practice work.
