Good questions. In the order they were received:
Because parents feel it's important to teach their kids religion. Because god is imaginary. They can't. No. They didn't. Animal sacrifice has a long history, but it is just superstition. I don't know, maybe they like the power. What right path? Because peace comes from tolerance, not an exclusive religion. Because god is imaginary. Because to order religion stopped is suppressing freedom, and is intolerant -- it would be bad to stoop to their level. People believe in all sorts of things for all sorts of reasons. Ape -- although technically a man-ape hybrid. Neither, both are written by man.

Religion is almost a Dr. Jekyll-and-Mr. Hyde phenomenon. It can be so two-sided and it takes consideration, maturity, and intelligence to separate the one from the other. Good things have ben done in the name of religion and very bad ones. Some would agree with Karl Marx that religion is the opium of the masses, lulling them to sleep and preventing the recognition of their real problems.
The religions which consider themseves properly monotheistic--Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are not that old: Moses goes back some thirty two centuries. Islam is thought by some of its followers to be the most recent revelation, superseding the other two faiths.
The ancient Romans, who worshipped many gods, as humanity has done through much of its history, thought of monotheism as a superstition, specifically as the Jewish superstition. And they could not accept the Christian belief that Jesus is the Son of God, until Paul and others converted some of them. Marcus Aurelius, the wisest of the Roman emperors, criticized the Christians for their "sheer opposition".
In the Christian Middle Ages Western kings and knights sought to recover the Holy Land from people they called Saracens or infidels, the latter a term some Muslims now apply to anyone who does not believe as they do.
There are three possible attittudes to miracles: they do not happen today and therefore could not have happened in the past; they are possible now and happened in the past; they are not possible now but Jesus was unique and therefore performed them.
In the second half of the 19th century several thinkers were convinced that religious faith was no longer possible but morality or right conduct was important all the same. Thomas Huxley, the foremost advocate of Darwinian evolution in his time, thought the Ten Commandments an excellent guide to life, even though he could not accept the account of Creation in Genesis and the miraculous creation of Adam and Eve. Some in the 20th century, however, think advocating morality without religion is the road to disaster. Others consider even morality obsolete.
Since religions appeal to so many people in so many nations, the problem may be to free them from intolerance, crudity, and inflated notions of superiority.

You have free-will, which allows you to believe anything that tickles your fancy. Why not sample a variety of churches, synagogues, temples, mosques, etc.? Then take a philosophy course, a biology course, and any other course that will teach you some things that are different than all of the religions.
NOTE: If you are a young person, still in the care of your parents, I suggest that you just read books privately on the various religions and sciences. Then continue going to whatever church your parents attend until you are of age not to.

Because people believe in what they want to believe. And they go into detail and add things in stories because they think either they'll sound better or just to get people to follow them. A lot of people fight over whats wrong and whats right. Thats why we got all broken up into all these billion different types of religions. Thats why a lot of people these days just decide to not even care anymore.

For better or worse, our parents are our primary source of information at that young age, and we're extremely susceptible to suggestion when we're young. For some matters it's a good thing -- like when a child obediently listens to their parent when they tell them not to touch a hot stove. But the "blind acceptance of authority" gene has the unintentional side effect of leaving young (or not-so-young) skulls full of mush vulnerable to that sort of religious nonsense....

1 Peter 4
5But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to men in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit.
