Play your part and act like a Jinn. It might be fun. Try to do it around Halloween.

Okay, you're right...that's kind of whack. I'm muslim, and I'll go ahead and tell you that muslims don't go around telling people that they are Jinn. But in all defense, did you offend him somehow? I mean, you've known the guy for 40 years. Why would he just bust out with an accusation like that?

Jinn is kind of another form of a "genie" of sorts. It is probably not so much of his religion that is the problem, as maybe he is becoming a tad paranoid or developing some mental problems. I do not think you can reason with that very much, unfortunately. All you can do is just try and keep talking to him..maybe ask him why he thinks that and what proof he has, and then counteract it with proof that you are not..Good Luck..sorry you have to go through that..

He just realized you doubt just to doubt and are not maturing.
It's like arguing with someone who says the sun might not rise tomorrow. That is true. However, there is no data to support that. If I had someone I knew for 40 years, and they kept on insisting the sun might not rise tomorrow, I'd tire of them also. Thus, I'd guess your friend has grown and you have not, thus it is time to split. My opinion, and I've seen a lot.
By the way, I dated a lady, a Doctor who was a Muslim for 1 year and we are still close friends. We both believe in our own religion and make no efforts to change one or the other. We discuss to understand the each other and learn from each other.

You can not reason with unreasonable people. Once their mind is set on some ridiculous idea, it's too late. Ever tried talking sense to a Democrat? Same difference!

You cannot reason with fanaticism.
You can just pray for him and back off.
Peace!
