I personally do and if your faith is based on following the scriptures than it is your "duty" for lack of a better word. Whoever has a question about this in thier heart should shun "what is politically correct" and do what is in thier heart because its not you who put it there.

NOt to prove JP wrong, but No. All Christians do not go out of their way to witness to strangers. It is a shame that they won't take a moment to help save someone from the darkness without being too pushy.
I can speak for myself when I say that I am discreet when witnessing in order to demonstrate a good character through my words and actions. It is our duty to God to behave in a Christian light, in other words, in a loving way to others.

My entire family does this on a regular basis. Sometimes in subtle ways (a song, a t-shirt, a hug). Sometimes in bolder ways!
Sadly, most of the Christ-based witnessing is done by groups that aren't actually Christian...such as the above Jehovah's Witnesses or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormonism).
The Bible clearly says that the only way to Heaven is to ask Jesus into your heart. These other "cult-like" groups twist things so badly that I cannot even start to explain.

Just to defend Jehovah's Witnesses. We are not judgmental, if you have come across one that is, I apologize. WE ARE CHRISTIANS. We are FOLLOWERS of CHRIST. We read, study, and apply THE BIBLE for what it actually says. We don't justify
"We live our lives around our religion/based on the bible, not our religion around our lives." -- (unlike some claimed Christians)
Yes. We do go out our way to witness to strangers. Did you know that that's what Jesus did? Did you know that that's why they hated him so?
Two Scriptures I would like to quote.
Example of Jesus witnessing:
Luke 8:1- "Shortly afterwards he went journeying from city to city, and from village to village, preaching and declaring the good news of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with him <------Wonderful example of Jesus witnessing, huh? This is why Jesus was presecuted.
Second scripture just to defend my religion:
Luke 21:16, 17 - " .... and YOU will be objects of hatred by ALL people because of my name." <------ You know, this scripture REALLY helps me to appreciate that, even though people don't know the true person that I am....... They hate me just because I'm a Jehovah's Witness....... That means I'm obeying God's commands. They are presecuting me, just because..... why?...my religion? Because I live my life for the only true God? I honor the ransom sacrifice of Jesus Christ and don't take it for granted? Because I know the role of God's Kingdom and how it will set matters straight on the earth and Want to share that with everyone? That's why I'm hated on? Continue hating me. Know that I love you all despite your actions, words, or feelings towards me and my religion.
Read Matthew 24:14, too. And honestly think about that scripture and what it says..... Whose TRULY preaching this good news of the kingdom... THROUGH-OUT the ENTIRE inhabited EARTH? Same news being preached in "all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues(languages)." Rev. 7:9

No.
Witnessing to strangers is not God's plan for promulgating his word to all the nations. If you're not willing to make a stranger a friend - feed the hungry, clothe the naked, tend to the sick, talk to the lonely, etc. - then you're not truly interested in spreading the word of God.

I am a catholic and I never do. I believe everyone has their own religion, and who am I to tell them that what they believe, or was taught is wrong. I think not. I'm not saying I dont defend my faith. If a person tries to witness to me, then I will debate them. But I would never go out of my way to convert or change a person. Its not right.

I'm a christian not a salesman. Only the Jehovahs think they are apostles. They haven't the equal signs that most wish to have. They are self centered enough to think they know more than another. That is called judgemental preaching and teaching.

Our entire life and the way in which we live it must be a witness to all, but I do not proselytize. I do speak when the Holy Spirit prompts me in some situations.

SORRY THERE J.W. lady, you do not even believe in the CHRIST christians believe in.
SO NO ,YOU JEHOVA WITTNESSES ARE NOT CHRISTIANS.
SORRY.
FATHER SON AND HOLY GHOST/ TRINITY! GOD THE FATHER, GOD THE SON, GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT COUNSELOR.
Jesus CHRIST, GOD INCARNATE, not Lucifer's/ SATANS brother...
JEHOVA WITNESS'S I think they are the ANTI-CHRIST's.
Sorry there QUESTIONER...
Just had to throw that out there.
YES!
Yes I do as a CHRISTIAN talk to complete strangers about Giving your life over to GOD to have life ETERNAL in PARADISE.
Who know's , we are entertaining the ANGELS all the time.
I mean how do you know that someone on the street, asking for money..isn't JESUS in the FLESH.
Or an ANGEL out to come in our path to see if we will make the correct choice?
Not for ourselves, but for GOD the father, for His SON who He sent to show us how to walk, to DIE for each and everyone of us, to FREE us from the SLAVERY of SIN, and even SPIRITUAL death.
Yes, I was in PORTLAND, Oregon.
I went into a coffee house.
I felt compelled to talk to the lady behind the counter about GOD.
She was AGNOSTIC.
I tried to share with her what I know and believe.
I think I freaked her out.
I persisted only for another moment.
I felt as though I was supposed to talk to her.
At least I planted a seed.
No I did not leave her some PAMPHLET FULL OF B.S.
nor did I try to CONVERT her over to any FAITH, RELIGION, or whatever.
I did mention GOD, the Father from my perspective.
I often talk to the homeless people on the streets and share my FAITH with them.
Sometimes they try and argue there is no GOD and other times they want me to pray for or with them.
I try to be always doing my FATHERS work, and yes, I still mess up everyday and get frustrated and take HIS name in vain.
But you know, I try to be aware when I do and ask forgiveness.
I am far from perfect, but I am allready PERFECT in my FATHERS EYES.

Only on the internet. Some strangers get really upset when you ask them about their faith.
