Salaam 'alaikoum wa rahmatullah, brother or sister in Islam.
First of all, whomever says they've seen a jinn (in their true form, that is) is a complete and absolute liar. We have been clearly told by our Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) that no one except the prophets can see a jinn in their true form. The last Prophet to come to mankind was Muhammad (pbuh).
(Only Jesus (pbuh) the son of Mary, will come back by descending from the Heavens, very close to the End of the World).
The jinn are very different creatures to humans. They have powers we do not possess. Like the Angels, they are part of the unseen world. This means we CANNOT possibly see them in their true form. One of the powers the Jinn have is they can take the shape of ugly and scary things like a snake, scorpion, etc. They can also take the shape of dead people (therefore when people say they've seen their "dead relatives" or a "ghost" the fact is that this is not correct, it was just a jinn lying to you!). This is their way to get you to commit shirk -assigning partners to Allah- which the greatest sin in Islam. Some people that see their "dead relatives" tend to ask them for help, so therefore this is shirk. You should only, ONLY ask Allah for help and guidance. Otherwise, again, you are guilty of shirk akbar and MUST repent immediately!!
You must remember that ONLY those deviant jinn are the ones that approach us and whisper to us, and take the shape of dead people and stuff. Allah clearly prohibited them from contacting us, just like we were told not to do it also.
It is completely haraam (sinful, prohibited) to try to "become friends" with the jinn. The obedient jinn will never come close and intervene with human lives, only those who are DEVIANT and SHAYATEEN (devils) will.
BEWARE of this sort of practice for it'll not only earn you great sins but possibly even damage from the jinn themselves. The jinn CAN physically and mentally harm you!!!
A final touch in regards to your question about "coming in contact with the jinn"...if someone clearly sees something "suspicious" (ie see a chair move by itself, or maybe see a "dead relative") you must immediately say "'authu billahi min ash-shaytaan ir-rajeem" (I seek refuge in Allah from the acursed shaytan -devil); or also you can recite "ayat ul-kursi" (Qur'an 2:255) and they will run scared away from you.
By the way, the rules of Islam apply for all mankind not just Muslims. If you are someone is seek of guidance and sincerely ask Allah (God) to guide you...He will.
Hope this helped you, brother or sister.

I have had many an encounter with jinns. Spoke to them, had fights with them, spiritually of course. My life was endangered by them. But that's a long story. However, a jinn appears as a human bat with it's ears sticking out on top and always a dark cloth pulled over its body revealing only its eyes, something like what you would see in those batman movies. You do however have to be able see them with certain special abilities that not many people have.
Don't believe what they say about there being good and bad jinns, only bad ones! Trust me on this buddy, I know first hand.

Yes, I was alone in my house and It was 9:00 at night and I was standing on a chair changing a light bulb and when I took the old bulb out I dropped it and it broke. I went into my laundry room and took out my vacuum I picked up the bigger pieces of glass from my carpet. I loked up from the carpet and I saw the reflection of my vacuum in the glass for my balcony but inside I saw something standing up right, tall as a person standing in my balcony. I was upstairs and there's no access inside my balcony because it has windows and we always keep them locked. As soon as I saw it my husband rang the door bell that he was home and I looked and the thing was gone. I didn't get a good look at it, but maybe it was a Jinn.

I have seen only kafir jinns - they are far more advanced technologically and mathematically. They are always cursing allah but they have revealed some very great secrets to those who saw them. One kafir jinn told me that all physical muslims are going to be destroyed in a nuclear war. The jinn said: Those Jehudin, those Jehudin are the terror of allah. Beware the Jehudin!

You guys are being led down the wrong path!
Jesus, who rose from the dead, told us that for those whot believe Him, we would be able to drive out Demons{Jinns}.
Mark 16. 15-18
He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
And these signs will accompany those who believe; IN MY NAME THEY WILL DRIVE OUT DEMONS; they will speak in new tongues;
They will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."
......................................................................................
Me and my friends that believe Jesus' words have recently laid our hands in prayer on those that had terminal cancer and they went back to their doctor and the doctor told them that the cancer was gone!
A few weeks ago there was a man and woman at our prayer meeting. They were trying to disrupt the meeting, so we prayed that God's, {not allah's}, Spirit would come upon them for God's will to be done on them and the evil spirits,{jinns}, that were in them started to make the woman choke and cough and both the man and woman ran out of the building and never came back!
Comon' you guys, get a clue! All you guys do is talk about your religion that is a bunch of rules and regulations.
Jesus says that we can have a "Personal" relationship with Him!
The "Real" God's word is telling us;
1 Corinthians 4:20
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.

no i didn't see any of then and i can assure you no one saw them, and if some did either he lies or just seen hallucination.
we believe in jinn that they exist and have their own life, but they cant control human or cause disease or any other problems.
i think all nations have something like this but with other names.

no, I have not, my veil and my burqua were on too tight that day and I was too busy strapping on the explosives on my only two offspring so they can blow up the infidels that are shopping at the mall and I was also avoiding being stoned and beheaded because I loosened my veil just a bit to make it a little more comfortable and was seen by the mulah. He also caught me trying to learn something, I am shamed. I must be stoned and beheaded. It is the will of Allah.
