At least 8 hrs; maybe supplemented with an after school nap! Kids need sleep to grow and be mentally alert! And you teach them a good habit to be kind to themselves by practicing good health.

Wellll, is the question really about the fact that You would like more sleep with an active 8 y/o who does not sleep?? Because chances are that 8 hours are enough for him if that is all he normally sleeps...
Neither my son nor husband have ever slept much more than 5 or 6 hours..lucky me!

well yes and no it depends on what time they went to bed also a child needs more sleep than a adult so when u turn like 65 u only need like 6hours of sleep well i hope this helped good luck!
