Thats a good question.....I would have to say it's away our body makes us feel when we get nerves I think. Same way when something goes wrong we feel sick to our stomach. It's all just probally in our head lol...

I believe that the butterflies feeling is a mixed reaction to anxiety and hope mixed with hormones.
