In the above link, the United Church of Canada, Canada's largest Protestant denomination, affirms their belief, based on Scripture, that marriages are holy and ordained by God regardless of the gender of the two individuals in question.
As Christians, they base this on the same book as other denominations use in condemning gay marriage and gay sexual activity.
My question is this: are they wrong? If you believe that they are, how can you be sure that your understanding of the Bible is superior to yours? Is it not possible that, from a Christian and Scriptural perspective, it is in fact you who is wrong?

According to scripture intimate relationships between two of the same sex is not acceptable to God, it is considered an abomination. At the same time there isnt / arent any scriptures that make "marriage" a man made custom as sacred. It does say that a "union" of two is holy and that a cord of three is supposed to be unbreakable. Man has ordained the custom of marriage to be holy, not the Bible. The union of two of the same sex can only produce; feelings, intimacy, sex, partnership, safety in numbers and it has been proven that same sex partners can be great parents. Who would argue against same sex partners adopting children with a world full of unwanted, unloved and often exploited children who have no voice? But make no mistake it is not holy nor acceptable to approach God with a same sex union. This is mere conformity to a world gone mad and perhaps a necessary evil if there is such a thing. The Bible is clear on the "union" of man and woman, not woman and woman and man with man.

i assume that i'm purely no longer awareness how somebody ought to no longer get the word of God out of the Mass. during the Liturgy of the word, there are 3 readings: the 1st is many times from the previous testomony, the 2nd will many times be from an epistle, and the third is often from between the Gospels. you are able to no longer decide the quantity that folk would desire to be getting out of a clergyman's homily or a pastor's sermon based upon how long it is. purely as a results of fact a clergyman's homily is shorter does not advise that it does not for sure word the Gospel message to life and help the contributors of the congregation to stay their faith. God Bless! EDIT: @sylvia c: The Church does teach the Bible and encourages all Catholics to take holiday to envision Scripture. the place all people gets an concept to the choice, i can't discern it out.

Same sex marriage is immoral because it goes against the natural laws of God under and scripture (and Christian scripture is no different) so the United Church of Canada in trying to be politically correct is distorting its own message. No good in the long run can come from this.

God created the union of man and women. Although man has screwed it up (men think they can have more than one women, polygamists), the nature of the relationship was for man to have a helper, woman. God did not make another man for Adam. The goal was to help, and also procreate (have babies). Nature witnesses that homosexual relationships are not designed to fulfill the procreation role.
In order to accommodate everything, this denomination will not condemn anything... except maybe being intolerant. The bible is intolerant to many things, including homosexuality.
Being tolerant of everything means you have no right to criticize anything. This church's inclusiveness will take away its authority to tell us anything.

Marriage is between one man and one woman and that is the absolute truth of God. Yes I believe the church in Canada has misinterpreted the Bible to suit their own beliefs and support their immorality biblically. The work of Satan to be sure.

the bible says it is an abomination for a man to lie with another man. And that is why God destroyed sodom and gomorrha because of all the abominable sexual activity in that city.

They are wrong in my opinion and belief.
The word of God does not Change with public opinion.
That is why I follow the original Church, not branches of it that have been changed by men to fit their wants.
Peace!
