If you study religion like I do, your ustaz will at some point tell you on the drawing near of hari qiamat ( armageddon )..

in Islam, it is the belief that this day comes when there are no more believers in Islam (no offence to non-muslims, this is just our belief),

Therefore, this is a sign ( no unity ), that this day draws ever closer and even if unity can't be found, at least the individual must repent.

I think it is too late for unity, and it will probably get worse. EVentually it will get to a point where even the most devoted Muslims will lose faith in religion. And this is where the end of days begin..

Because like many religions there are factions. The two major splits in Muslims is the belief in who is the religions leader. One group feels that they should be appointed while another group believes it is through the blood lines of Muhammad

Probably same as why Christians cannot unite. Because of this diversification we play different roles. In the Bible, it relates churches as being part of the body of Christ. So some have to be the feet and hands etc..

It's individual reason. Islam is united but muslims can't because they not practice what was told by the Quran and hadis. That's all.

Basically, there are two main denominations of Islam in the world today--Sunni and Shiite. It's somewhat similar to Protestantism and Catholicism in Christianity and the different branches of other religions. There's a link below if you want to read about why the split happened.

Neither do the Christians, the Buddhists, or the Hindus. Dogma divides man, Love unites him. Know and seek, for Jesus stand waiting (as doth Muhammad).

Because they are backing away from religion and finding way to rage hate against each other and other religions.
The current situation should be sure enough sign for them to get their stuff correct else there is a HUGE lose for them here in this world and after.

Gosh interesting question - maybe the same reason Jews can't unite, Christians can't unite, and Hindu's can't unite.

I wish God bless us (muslims) and we be uniqe soon, the problem is not in islam, it's in the muslims who are becoming bad, but there must be a day all become good
