I would like to cross into north korea, along the chinese border at night. I know there are mine fields and guards. I have no problem with the guards because I can hide. How can I get through the mine fields? Also will carrying a weapon guarantee my death if caught?

no way, if you make it past the guards both North and South Korean and US, plus the patrols, radar, seismeic sensors, land mines (some magnetic) trip wires, spotlights, pitfalls and other traps, you then have to worry about heat sensors, night vision goggles worn by sharpshooters, then the river, tigers, leopards, and bear that live in the woods that surround the border.

The North Korean minefields are on the border with South Korea. North Korea and China are loose allies and do have the same military buildup at the border as you see at the South Korean border.
Judging by the reported problem China is having with North Koreans entering the coutry illegally the border should be lightly guarded.
Pyongyang is great distance from the Chinese border. You might be better off attempting a water crossing via Korea Bay.

DON'T DO IT. You will get caught. They will find you. You will have to give up or they will shoot you. When you surrender, they make you live in North Korea for the rest of your life. I've seen this on 60 Minutes. They tell you what to read and do.

Bring a metal detector, a GPS receiver and map with several 'X's marked on it.
If you get caught, you can explain that you are geo-caching and you got lost.
