I'm getting married next year I designed and I'm making my own wedding dress,Since this is both of our second wedding we want to be a little untraditional. If you think about it,when your looking for a wedding dress in a differant color then white, off white or ivory and maybe black all you can find is prom dresses.your wedding should be exactly what you want. And for the untraditional bride I think there should be beautiful wedding gowns in shades from the lightest pink to the darkest blue what do you think?

I have seen 1st-time brides use color in their dress.

Second marriages use to be done quitely & without much a-do. But not anymore! You have lost love and found it again. I think that calls for a celebration!
Do the wedding however you want, in whatever color you want.
It is advised that a 2nd-time bride not wear a veil. I don't necessarily go along with this, but I do think the veil covering the face should be reserved for the 1st-time bride. But that's just my opinion.

With you sewing your dress, you have sooooo many options. Have you chosen a design/pattern yet? (email me!) I made my first wedding dress, but then, there were only about 3 wedding dress patterns then. :)

Good luck with your planning & Congratulations!

I say go for it. Im getting married next year as well. On september 8,2007 and we're being very untraditional as well. My wedding dress is going to be lavender. The bridesmaids are wearing white. My fiancee loves the idea but it doesnt go over well with everyone but what do we care. WE are the ones getting married so it only matters what WE think and the same should go with YOU!

My daughter stated to me the other day (she is 15) that when she gets married she wants either a blue gown or a red one - I think since it is your wedding and your photo's and your memories - that you should make that decision. Some people look horrible in white or ivory. Have fun!

I am getting married in ivory but I always wanted to get married wearing an orange wedding dress. I do have orange colors throughout my wedding as well as in my hair, but a colored wedding dress is an original and unique idea, and it says a million words about who you are and your personality, and what is important to you :) Good luck, it will be beautiful :)

I agree that there should be wedding gowns in whatever colour you wish. My wedding gown is a light pink satin and I hunted everywhere for it and ended up spending a HUGE fortune on it but its the perfect dress for me!

Good plan for a 2nd wedding. I like the idea of a blush pink bridal gown.

I totally agree and applaud you! I'm getting married in May and though it's the first (and hopefull the last) time that I will get married, I'm doing things MY way. My dress is sage green silk and each of my bridesmaids is in a different color. I SAY WE BOYCOTT WHITE WEDDINGS!!!!

Yes, they're difficult to find. That's why many people end up buying a bridesmaid gown in the color they desire, to use as a bridal gown.
