Imigrants come from all over however a drmatically large percentage come from Mexico. This has stirred a great debate and alot of misplaced resentment.

I have no problem with immigrants form anywhere as long as it is legal. There are many ways we can go about this but I don't think we have come up with any real proactive ideas yet.

we live in a great country and we should keep it that way. Everyone should be able to live in a country like ours. On that note, how can we help Mexico make there country a better place? That way we wouldn't have so many people trying to scramble into America only because they are trying to escape poverty. I think we should spen our dollars on helping Mexico instead of money on border security that isn't working to well. This way, everyone wins

Mexico has the financial resources to improve their country but they choose not too. It is a corrupt country and the government encourages the people to come to the US because they don't want to deal with them. I too have no problem with legal immigration, but the Mexican people and the mexican government are trying to dictate how the US treats the illegal immigrants. I am in favor of a border wall. Sounds harsh I know, but that is what I truly believe. I don't think we should pour any money into Mexico as we have citizens here that are just as needy. I'm tired of supporting the illegal by virtue of schools and medical issues, just to name a couple.

Congress just approved $800 Billion dollars for the war in Iraq. This is a slight increase over last year's budget for the war in Iraq. I think this is ridiculous. That money should go into addressing domestic affairs in this country, including illegal immigration.
Immigrants who are willing to work undesireable jobs such as picking fruit and manual labor should be given special seasonal/temporary visas, especially since they send most of their earnings back home to their native countries. There are slaughterhouses in Kansas, North Carolina and all over the Midwest filled with illegal immigrants and law enforcement knows this, but realizes not many Americans will take their places at in the fields and slaughterhouses. Saudia Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries use Indian, Pakastani and Egyptians to do indignified jobs. We already have a 'caste system' and we don't realize it.

Here is a radical solution -

Eliminate the borders between Mexico and Canada completely. Alow US, Mexican and Canadian business set up shop in any country as if they are within there own borders. So for instance, GM can create a Manufacturing facility in Canada, US or Mexica but they must pay a standard fee for the workers pay (same in all countries) and all countries must abide by the union laws for union shops. Once the manufacturing jobs flourish in Mexico People from US, and Canada will migrate there for those opportunities. As these business become more competitive economies of US, Mexico and Canada will thrive. Next tax (heavily) jobs that are outsourced overseeas. Allow the US and Canada to create new jobs based on there infrastructure and skilled workforce. Finally, take back our textile industry from china. start manufacturing our clothes and our shoes and are daily wares in North America....

There are enough demands in North America for everyone who wants a job to have a job

Personally I feel that America needs to but out of other countries businesses, that's why we are in the current war in Iraq. i don't have a problem with immigrants they obviously want to come to America for a reason. the problem is with their countries politics, and why help them when they are clearly able to help themselves. and when i mean them i mean their government not it's citizens, I'm tired of giving money to other countries. we need to worry about our own. all those that were affected by Katrina and hurricane Wilma need to be helped before we even consider helping another country. the twin towers need to be rebuilt. America is in ruins and yet you want to help Mexico? let's help those in Lebanon first where there actually is a war. Mexico can take care of themselves as of right now, there are bigger problems going on in the world Rather than immigrants coming here illegally? for the time being. just give them amnesty and get over it. and make everyone that comes thereafter do it the legal way. I mean what are you going to do send all the adults back and leave the children? that doesn't make any sense to me? what are we going to do strip the children of their rightful citizenship and send everyone back who came in here illegally? and that would solve all the problems in the America? i don't think so.

What money? Do you think we should go more into debt to help a country that won't help themselves. Do you know how many are in need right here in the USA? There are riches in Mexico.
Friends of mine have been down there 3 times this year to the
rich resort areas where they charge a fortune to visitors. I don,t
think the poorer class gets any of that booty.
I have worked with the elderly & sick for years. It is almost impossibel for many of them to afford their medications. They either have food or medicine...not both. The Mexicans need to get up and make something out of their lives & their country.

Declare Mexico is a US state and they'll all be citizens.

Mexican govt does not have to agree, and no troops have to be involved. It would be a declaration of convenience. All the border armor plating could be dropped at a huge cost saving.
Then US gov could spend the money on keeping us evil Canadians out.

My suggestion to keep illegal mexican immigration to a minimum is by cutting off food stamps to everybody who isn't disabled or working legally. It is a shame how much money from this program has found it's way into the hands of illegal immigrants. I believe all social programs need to have much tighter identification requirements. We say we don't want them over here illegally, then don't you think we should start showing that to them.

The obvious answer would be for the US to invade and annex Mexico. With our system of government, and their natural resources, we would make the US an even better nation.

Under this scenario, there would be no need for Mexicans to illegally come to the US - they would already be there!

As an American, I have a question for you. Why am I responsible for cleaning up every screwed up country on this and, probably, every other planet?

Maybe we should just dissolve the USA and let the spoils be considered "first come first served".

Sorry but:
Every Libs answer for anything seems to be "throw money at it.
Every Cons answer seems to be "build a wall".

So I want to know, when is somebody going to do something, anything, about this crap?

Require mandatory military service for illegals, if you want to be an american, then you should be willing to die for this country.
I think alot of them would run from the border if this was implemented. Send them to Iraq, Afganistan, to fight against terrorism, there should be a risk involved, not free welfare.
