Cause it feels good?
Have you ever had anyone rub your chest or belly? Its VERY relaxing.

Well, I have 3 dogs and 1 cat. My female dog prefers you rub her belly. Its a girl thing. It feels good to her. My male cat loves to be rubbed on his tummy, but only by his "people" everyone else gets the back! Dogs roll over on their backs to show submission. By exposing their bellies they are completely vulnerable to an attack. There's a strict hierarchy with dogs where they try to figure out who is "alpha" or the leader. If they realize they are not in charge, they roll onto their backs and show their bellies. On the other hand, if they "hump" you (and not for sexual pleasure), then they are trying to mount you and assert their dominance. Plus....getting your belly just feels so gosh darn good!

It's a submissive behavior that is still in their blood from when they were once wild. They are bearing their most vulnerable body part so that the alpha in the family ( you ) know that they are with you to the end. It shows that they know that you are above them and they need to listen to your rules.
On the other hand, some dogs just do it cuz they like their tummys scratched!

When a dog shows you his/her belly it means they feel good, they trust you. It also is a sign of submission.
By petting your dog you show him/her love and it shows you love in his/her own way :)

I don't know but it's so damn cute. I love dogs! They're hilarious. My dog used to do that too, and when I'd rub her belly she'd shake her leg really fast. Love it!

my dog love showing his belly, we call our name out, and the one with the fastest tail wag hads to rub his belly, and sometimes he might want to have a little play too,

Not all dogs turn over to show their bellies, but the ones who do are showing submission to you. They completely trust you.

because dogs cant really scratch their own bellies so they want u to do it for them
