God gave us free will. We have the ability to choose to do what we want. This is my question though, why do we make the choices we do? We make those choices due to how we were made. God is the one who made us. So really even as I type these words I think did I truly choose to type this or was it simply the way I was made and no matter any amount of my free will I would have ended up typing them anyhow? If any one could give me a good explanation how god didn't make us do everything we do anyhow even though we have free will?

Your right of the Christian belief that God gave us free will. He can see every action that we did, will do or could have done in one glance. He gave us the ability and doesn't interfer. so he created us with an unlimited number of possibilities...which one we choose is our choice. Many things do affect us. But it is not His doing, it is this world (everyone here also has free will). If some one uses his free will to kill another person (say your best friend), it affects you. You can kill that person, forgive them, hate them, pity them, you can let yourself go and become alcoholic, what ever, the fact is what you do is your choice.

yes He created you, but he created you with the ability to do so many things, and all you had to do was choose. Sometimes the decisions you made when your a kid, and when your maturing affect the way you think and make decisions when your older. Your enviroment, your family all these things give you so many opportunities to mold yourself through your own actions. You burn bridges, and make preferences as to how you react to things and deal with things. He made us, and knew we could do everything we are doing now, but he also knew everything else we could have been doing instead, what we choose is up to us though.

This is just my opinion though.

God wants all people to be saved.
1 Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

No all people will be saved. In fact, not even half will be saved.
Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Therefore, not everything that happens is what God wants. He doesn't make anybody do anything; He just tells us what is best for us, and hopes that we will obey Him.

The Bible teaches absolute determinism (Romans 9:16,19 & Eph 1:11). That being said, God works through secondary causes in the case of human volition. For example: Macbeth is the immediate cause of the death of the King of Scotland, whereas Shakespeare is the ultimate cause of the death of the King of Scotland. In a like manner God so interacts, directs, and governs the creation and all volition of the creature. Soli Deo Gloria!

You do have free will, and you are making the decisions for your life. However, God, being all-knowing like HE is already knows which decisions you will make during your life-time. With knowing that, he may influence who and when people come in and out of your life. Some influences are meant as blessings, some are meant as lessons. Either way, count it all joy because He didnt even have to create us at all.

WE MAKE THE CHOICES WE DO CAUSE WE CHOOSE TOO. YES GOD MADE US BUT WE DON'T MAKE CHOICES BASED ON HOW WE WERE MADE. YOU COULD OF TYPED WHATEVER YOU WANTED, IT WAS YOUR CHOICE. SOMETIMES ADULT MAKE STUPID CHOICES BASED ON HOW THEY WERE RAISED AND THEY USE THEIR CHILDHOOD AS AN EXCUSE FOR THEIR BAD BEHAVIOR. YOU ARE TRYING TO MAKE IT COMPLICATED AND IT ISN'T. THE FACT IS WE HAVE FREE WILL AND GOD DOESN'T INTERFERE IN OUR FREE WILL. LIFE IS ABOUT CHOICES, EVERY CHOICE WE MAKE HAS A CONSEQUENCE.

Taken from your own words:

"... god didn't make us..."
You typed a lower case "G" ...will you be damned to hell for that?

"We have the ability to choose to do what we want."
You didn't make any errors when you said this... in fact, it's the second best thing you said... the first best was, "... I think..."

God gave us free will, and there are some constraints: time, space, and the like. To me it means that my free will enable me to be a human, and discourages me from being what I am not: god.

What you're tackling there is called "medieval philosophy."

Read some Duns Scotus or Thomas Aquinas.
