I never go on diets, I just eat healthily all the time. Well, sometimes, I'll have something junky, but I don't really have a vice like most people do. I can stay away from potato chips, chocolate and candy. I have been trying to get my mother to eat healthily all the time, but she doesn't get it, and she just tells me that she will just go on a diet after. Senseless!

You are perfectly right. I just answered another questioner who wanted to know if a diet on fruit and vegetables only is advisable. This is what I wrote:
"A well-balanced diet alone is ideal! Eating only fruit and vegetables is not considered a balanced diet and it is an artificial method of losing one's weight but how long one could stick to that kind of diet. And, once you stop that and switch to another type of diet, you may get back all that artificially lost weight! In fact, it may stage back faster than the way one loses weight, and may lead to adding to the original weight."
Dieting is artificial and can lead to complications in due course of time. Instead of indulging in excess of anything, one should be well-balanced and moderate in consumption of all solid and liquid food.

Only going on a permanent diet change is the solution. Just like you said, there has to be a lifestyle change or the weight will come back. I guess people don't want to commit to a whole lifestyle change due to fear of missing out.

Some diets last a life time, like South Beach Diet. It's just a more conscientious way to eat instead of shoveling masses of fried food and sugar into your gullet.

You are wrong my dear ,Diets should not be composed of junk food but of good nourishing healthy food, you will be healthy and slim if you follow a correct diet,do not make the diet up yourself but get a Dr or a dietitian to do it for you,if you do decide on a junk food diet expect illness and malnutrition, you will not only feel ill ,you will look it. take care

I think it's funny that people say they are going on a diet. Everything you eat is a diet. Why don't people start saying I'm going on a healthy diet or weight lose diet.

What is a lasting change? Did Moses bring this down from the mountain. Most of the low carb high protein diets are being rejected by the medical community.

Surely if a person continues to eat, they are indeed on a diet.
Whatever we chew and swallow is our 'diet'. The choice will always be wether we choose to be healthy, in thought and deed, about it.
The girlie's who wish to be skinny as sticks should recognise that they are on a 'starvation'.
Perhaps they would be better advised to go on a course to improve their dwindled self esteem and avoid talking to strange hybrids like you my wicked friend...

a lot of girls like to advertise when they are on a diet because then there are more people to answer to if they are caught cheating. there is nothing wrong with dieting, as long as you vow to eat healthier when the program is over, and not just go back to your old habits. lighten up!! you sound like a meanie...

I Never say I'm dieting, for me, then food becomes an obsession! When I'm not 'dieting' I eat sensibly, because i'm not getting screwed up about my body image, I am what I am, and thats the way I'm loved!
