I can relate. I like some of the christian services and the music, but I am very open to the whole of the truth, which for me manifests itself through many different types of activities. For instance, I like to go to church sometimes at my church or sometimes at a different church. I attend 12 step meetings and that also is a form of practicing my spirituality. I attend some native american meetings, which feed me spiritually as well. I attend summer family camps. I read many good books. Some of them are christian, some of them are about meditation, some about God, some about Native Healing. So, in a nut shell, I think it IS very important to gather together for communion with like-minded people and that can happen many ways. Alot of the what you call "hard core Christians" will disagree with me and that is ok.
I am searching for the truth - accepting all people, loving all people and when you really get down to it, that is modelling Christ. So, my suggestion to you is to do what you think is the next right thing, make contact with a god of your understanding and practice what you believe to be the truth. I do not think this will take you in the wrong direction. And if it pulls you closer to Christianity, remember your feelings now and try and remain open-minded, so that you can minister and reach all people!
I felt compelled to respond to this question to let you kow that YOU ARE NOT ALONE, my friend. Peace and Love to you.

You cannot know the truth unless you hear it. By going to church with an open mind to Christianity, you will find the truth and the other beliefs will no longer make sense to you. It is true that lukewarm Christians do make others stumble but you have to become a baby Christian before you can grow into a strong one.

I take it you're probably one of what that preacher called a 'lukewarm' Christian? So to speak? I think a lot like you. A little different, because I haven't been to church in ages but I know in my heart I'm saved, but at the same time I still respect and understand other people and their religions. I don't dismiss any just because their different...like some people. I think anyone who is secure enough in their faith (like myself and perhaps you yourself) is able to accept that there are different religions in the world and respect them for what they are, whereas fundamentalists are more close-minded...perhaps because they are scared. When people run from religion it's usually because of fear.
Something else I believe (maybe just me, maybe other people) is that while there are many many religions in the world, I truly think there's one God serving all of them and certain religions just have different ways of worshiping (and naming let's say) Him. So I kinda think we're all worshiping the same God(s) (muslim, christians, etc) but we've all kinda developed our own names and beliefs surrounding God based on our culture and heritage. And I think it started way before you or I was here and it's just been passed down and down and down so that now people believe their "religion" is the correct one.
If you've ever seen that movie Dogma, there's a really good line that goes "No religion has got it right...because they're all too self righteous to realise that it doesn't matter what you have faith in, just that you have faith. Your hearts are in the right place, but your brain's gotta wake up."

No, I don't agree with that sermon. You either have accepted the teaching of Christ or you have not. It is not wrong to have an open mind and ask questions, or even agree with the beliefs of others. You don't make another person stumble. We are all responsible for our own decisions.

I think you can go to church without being a zealot. I reserve the right to disagree with any pastor and I think we all should. God did give us a will. If all he wanted was blind obedience he wouldn't have given us one. I think we are all spiritual beings and if we stumble on theology or the interpretation of that then we are thinking beings. Most good pastors have studied other religions, too and have made their choice based on what their heart told them to do.

Rev 3:16 "So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth." This is what Jesus says in Revelation.
If I was you I would commit my life to Christ Jesus before it is too late. Don't go through life lukewarm, it is not a pretty ending if you do.

Suppose you lıved 5000 years ago before Jesus what would you belıeve?Sure not chrıstıanıty because nobody knew that at that tıme.So that means trınıty ıs not valıd before Jesus. No one prophet teached cross and trınıty and Jesus.Moses called hıs communıty to pray to only one God and he ıs prophet. He showed many mıracles. But never saıd he ıs a God.So dont belıeve that Jesus ıs a God.He ıs only a prophet. What he explaıned to hıs communıty was same what Moses and other prophets dıd.

Christians that are lukewarm rarely produce fruit because they can never make up their minds which way they want to go. They end up static and useless. You cannot mix beliefs and expect God to bless you. You have to make a decision to live for God according to Biblical principles. If you do not, then you will deny yourself blessings from God. You do not have to be a fanatic in order to receive God's blessings in your life. God is looking for committed people, not fanatics. God is looking for people will to serve humankind in his name and according to his purposes. Jesus loves you.

Try the Unitarian Church. They're basically christians but they hold "meetings" instead of "sevices" people just gather around to talk about spirituality, no pressure, no hellfire.
