Mind games? how is that a mind game? He came right out and told you the truth! You might not have liked the answer but at least he didnt lie to you about it.
As for everyone saying no dont trust him. What? You never found someone who you really liked more than the person you were currently with? As long as he didnt cheat on her and told her the truth, whats wrong with that? Life is too short to spend time with someone you dont really like just because you dont want to hurt their feelings.

As sad as it is everyone plays mind games to some extent. Dating is not the same as devotion. Dating is to get the extent of who someone is. Devotion comes after if you think there is potential in that person.
