If it's true, then 'I love you' couldn't be nicer. Gentle, loving compliments and reassurance. Affirmation that the wonderful feelings during sex are the result of intimacy and affection out of bed. Lots of cuddles and kisses and telling her/him how lovely they are.

Start telling her/him that he's most welcome the moment he shows up at your house/appartment. After kissing, look her/him straight on the face and tell him/her that you love her/him so much. Give her/him another strong hug.
Say something like, "You sounded so nice and kind on the phone. I like your voice." Offer her/him something, drink, snack... Then keep a close contact by seating on the same couch with a hug occasionally.
Just have a general chat. Then when you are about to go to bed comment about her/his general appearance. In other words tell him/her what turns you on at the moment. Say things such as, "You look so cute today my dear. I like to see you on that jean skirt, suit" etc.
