this is a common problem for u just not kowing ur computer....u are only allowed a few days to restore not month's.....the only other thing u might do is boot into safe mode and click on: Last known good configuration...other than this i'd say u might as well either re-program or re-format ur machine...usually when it get into the stae u suggested ,,u are beyond repair anyway...so either recover or re-format is only 2 solutions

More than likely a restore point was not entered, this could happen if System Restore is turned off...
To check that...(on Windows XP) Right click on the My Computer icon, and choose properties on the menu.
There should be a tab called system restore.
Check to see if it's on or off...
If off, turn it on.
If on - leave on
Since no restore points were made, you cannot restore to the date you would like....however, if there's other restore points before that time you can.
One thing I will caution you on....
Make sure you scan your system for viruses BEFORE you do a restore, because, if you do have a virus and you simply restore rather than reFORMAT then that virus could do a bad rendition of the bunnyrabbit tango, multiplying faster than anything and cannot be undone.
Save all your files that you want to save (just in case) then try scanning for a virus.
If none are found, restore to the previous date.
Make sure system restore is on again after restoring.
I usually do a reformat, because it clears a lot of crap outta the registry that no longer is on my computer (old programs that got uninstalled eons ago...etc) The refomat requires you to re-install programs that you want on your system afterwards, but it's a great way to clean your computer up & make it run faster.
Good Luck!

There may not be a restore point from that far back. The restore points are only alloted a certain amount of space on your hard drive. When that limit gets reached, it clears out the oldest restore point to make room for the new one. So you usually can only go back a month ot two.

relies upon what ur searching at. What the equipment restore in essense does is that it restores your critial document equipment recommendations and information back to an older stand element the position your equipment had booted good. It does not do damage yet may reason havoc which includes your new classes. ie. Say you've a back of third Jan 2008, now on 10th you put in some new software which as a lot as date a number of your critcial abode windows configuration documents, now on 12 th you do a restore, what this may do is it truly is going to flow the equipment back to the third Jan state, there via erasing any updates made to the documents on the twelfth. So in case you run your put in software back it would want to not locate an as a lot as date document that may reason it to stall.!

The simplest explanation is that you did not hit the back arrow at the top of the calendar. The second is that your PC did not create a backup point.
