Can't you control your anger? I don't understand.

I don't think its a case of putting born again to the test all of the time, and more a case of the fact that in my experience born again christians are smug lot who believe that because they are born again than this makes them (a) morally superior and (b) better christians because you have born again, this seems to be slightly ridiculous when people have been devoutly religious in their own way for years, instead of suddenly seeing the light as it were and bleating to anyone who will listen with the stereotypical fervour of the newly converted zealot.

I have found in my experience that born again christians tend to be a little bit to evangelical for their own good, which combined with above is extremely irritating and a always reminds me of the old adage that an empty vessel makes the most noise.

Maybe you should be asking the question why am I pissing other people off and if you cannot turn the mirror on yourself the only thing that I suggest you do is to take advice of Jesus and turn the other cheek.

brendan w,
I am a Protestant too, brendan w. I am not surprised that some Protestants are unprepared for the test that comes with communicating on these boards. They seem to be brought up thinking that the world should love them.

But Jesus told us the world would not love us, neither would they love him.
John 15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

It is an error that is taught in today's Protestant Churches, to think that anyone can be saved. You are getting evidence that this isn't true.

Because God chooses who He wants, and who He doesn't want. And He didn't want everybody:
Matthew 13:14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Here is evidence of those he wants, next to those he does not want:

Matthew 13:37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

If you are angry, let it be righteous anger. But do not be angry out of misunderstanding. Because Jesus told us that we can expect the worlds reaction.

If you are trumpeting your faith to everyone around you, in school or at work for example, there's your answer. That is very annoying and also insulting to those people who already have their own faith and do not require instruction or want to hear proselytizing they haven't invited. If you are keeping your religion where it belongs - in your heart, your church, at home and among those who believe as you do, then it's hard to understand how everyone else is pissing you off. If you are speaking about the posters in this forum don't you expect opposing opinions? Either way, aren't you supposed to turn the other cheek, or learn forgiveness or whatever it is that you are taught to do in that vein? Good luck with that.

The term "Born-again Christian" is a conundrum. It is a redundancy since the very act of "becoming Christian" means you are born again of the spirit world. You were born again with baptism, no need to add "Born-again". It is kind of like trying to stamp ourselves as more important than our brothers in Christ because we have a cool title.

And if you are truly born again then why are you demonstrating such rage?

Jesus says we can tell a tree by its fruit. A good tree can not produce bad fruit and a bad tree can not produce good fruit.

I think born-agains get more stick because (as a rule) they are more vocal about their beliefs. I work with a number of born-agains and normal christians and believe me, the born-agains are incredibly annoying, pious and self-righteous. The normal christians on the other hand seem a little more level headed.

They do. Just look at the news. If common sense was common, people would wonder why christians and christianity was always under attack. But, no one does. And people just get a kick out of irking those who they think ought to be perfect, even though they do not know the meaning or the basics of the faith. Some haven't even read the Bible, so don't get too ticked.
BTW, getting your anger under grips would be a big plus too.

If I told you that you Have to believe "This"... it's the only Truth and here are all the rules which are required of you in order to Prove to the world that you believe "This"... you wouldn't challenge it? test it? I'm betting you would... and you would do the challenge directly to the people who told you that you Have to believe "This"... whether the individual did or not.

As for one of your other answerers claiming that everyone else expects Christians to be perfect... um, no, everyone else doesn't expect Christians to be perfect. Jesus expects it "Be ye perfect as your Father in Heaven is"... you can't tell people to follow laws, to be a certain way in order to gain a certain amount of grace from what you believe in and not do so yourself.

Strange as it might seem, it's not to outwit them, but rather to have them prove the questioner right, thus giving the questioner a real reason for life.

Look at the millions, many amny millions who deny and decry Jesus all the time, and this to someone they do not think ever existed ???

They too are seeking...

Oh some of it's real all right. The test is kinda fun though, isn't it? I'm getting a kick out of it. Either way, if there's a question I don't feel I'm qualified to answer, I don't answer it :)
