A perfect being cannot lie. I think we can all agree upon that.
So, when jesus said in Mark 11:24 "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."
And in John 14:12-14;
14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

So that there is no confusion here, JESUS himself said these words. And since he is god, and perfect, he cannot lie.

Why then does he not heal amputees? You'd think that in the history of the world, someone, somewhere who lost a limb or even a pinky, would have asked for it to be re-grown. And not once in history has this happened. Is god just a liar? And a cruel one at that?

I mean if I had the means to heal a man who lost both hands to a landmine while trying to farm his land in Cambodia, I'd do it. No hesitation. But I can't.
According to christians, god can. Yet he doesn't, why is that?
I'll let you in on a little secret; the reason he doesn't is because he does not exist. Life just sucks sometimes.
And there is NO imaginary sky-pixie looking down on us. None.
Oh and for those of you pin-heads who are actually stupid enough to say that I'm taking these quotes "out of context" smack your heads. This is YOUR book of bronze-age jewish mythology. I am not taking anything out of context. And if you think I am, demonstrate it. Rest assured those who say I do will NOT show how or where. Because they know full well that I'm not.

Numbers 23:18-20 (King James Version)19God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

20Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.

There is evidence of supernatural healing. If you were really interested in this you would be searching elsewhere. No you wish to cloud the truth. But the real truth is that you can't put your mind around God you can not understand his word, his gifts or even his love because you are still with sin.
You find fragments of our bible that you use to support your lies and arguments. You do not understand that the Bible is a whole piece not fragments. So before you use the word of God to mock the word of God maybe you should really read the word of God.
Healing Gifts come after you have been baptised by the Holy Spirit. And are not a means to prove our faith because are God needs no one to prove that he his real. Sometimes healing takes place on the inside as well something we all need from time to time.
I do not know what Christians have came into your life or for what reason you have so much animosity in your heart for them but I hope that one day when you are down and out and need some form of help you look up and see a true Christian for what we are. Which is the Body of Christ!
May you be blessed with love peace and understanding of God and his will.

I think you answered your own question.

"14:12 ...the works that I do shall he do also."
That is to do the work of the Father.

"14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it."
Asking in His name doesn't mean "give me tomorrow's lottery numbers in Jesus name, amen." It is to ask such as He would. His will. His greater plan.

We should append all our supplication with, "Thy will be done".

I don't want to write a book here, but there's a passage in Mark that might help.

Mark 8:22

When they arrived at Bethsaida, some people brought a blind man to Jesus, and they begged him to touch and heal the man. 23 Jesus took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. Then, spitting on the man's eyes, he laid his hands on him and asked, "Can you see anything now?"
24 The man looked around. "Yes," he said, "I see people, but I can't see them very clearly. They look like trees walking around."
25 Then Jesus placed his hands over the man's eyes again. As the man stared intently, his sight was completely restored, and he could see everything clearly. 26 Jesus sent him home, saying, "Don't go back into the village on your way home."

Jesus touched the man TWICE. Why did He do that? He could have healed the man with just a word. It's because we do not, cannot, see the whole picture. We don't get it, completely. Not yet anyway.

In regards to Mark 11:24, I am sorry but you are takingit out of context. If you read 11:22 " Have faithin God" Jesus answered . "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself into the sea, and DOES NOT DOUBT in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Theefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have recieved it and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him,so that your Father in heaven may forgive your sins." It all rvovles around the amount of faith a person has. I have fait but I (sadly) am not strong enough in faith to believe I can move a mountain. In another place Jesus states that if your faith is pure as small as a mustard seed these things can happen. It is a matter of the state of the heart. Again in John 14:12-14 Jesus is talking to the disciples and telling of the faith needed to have prayers answered. They had to believe that Jesus was of the Father. Please for your own sake read several verses around one to get the full meaning. Also this is the age of faith not miracles. Not that we don't have some miracles they are just not the big showy ones like parting the Red Sea. Regrowing an arm. ect. I am sorry for your confusion but Jesus is not a liar and He does live up to His promises it is us that fall short of the glory of God.

Well, I'm assuming that you have to have the right kind of faith and a lot of it. Apparently, from what I've NOT heard, that hasn't happened yet.
Isn't there a verse about 'plucking' out your eye or your hand if it causes you to sin...the reasoning being that it's 'better to enter Heaven maimed' than Hell as a whole person?...Something like that. Besides, I know there's a verse about anything being possible if [you] have the faith of a mustard seed.
I would say the God/Jesus (non-polytheistic deity, despite Mary and the Trinity) is pretty sadistic since he can supposedly prevent and/or miraculously cure amputees but doesn't.

As a man who grew up mainly in the southern US (South Carolina) and who went to a Christian school for 3 years, I have seen first hand the adamantly unyielding thinking of Christians that you are referring to. I agree that the Bible is probably one of the most peculiar books ever written. It is the word of God, but it is written by human hands, which makes it prone to human error. So for the sake of this question, let's disregard the Bible. Now forget anything anyone has ever tried to preach to you about any religion. Now think about the beginning of time. Let's assume that science is right about the big bang. Where did that initial mass come from? Somebody or something had to create it. Whatever it was was definitely not human, and I have to believe still exists today.
So think about this....maybe there is a God! Not the God of the Jews, Muslims, Christians, or Hindus, but a passive God that may or may not even be interested in this planet. From my years of trying to decipher these mixed messages from different religions and athiests with a rational, objective thought process, this seems like the most likely answer to me.

First of all i want to tell you that i have a crippling disability/ birth defect. I know first hand that trials come I have pain, I cant walk that good. I get frustrated and ask WHY ME. Do u know what though. I keep on going because i know that God is with me every step that i take and i know that he hears my prayers. I didnt ask to be disabled. BUT, i also didnt ask to be normal either. You have to take every challenge that comes with faith. I know that you have concerns about things u cant understand. You have to know the lord God personally to know that he does Heal. He may not heal you right away. Or he may not heal them by regrowing limbs. The Lord heals you to where you can take the challenges that come like losing a leg. He gives you strength to endure. He endures it with you because that is why Christ died for us. He suffered all pain for us. If Christ didnt do it all on his own then the sins of man would have been in vain. I love Jesus Christ for what he did for all of us. HE didnt suffer for just our sins but our physical, mental, emotional, ALL PAIN. I love Jesus Christ more than the world can even comprehend. May i quote a few scriptures for u. In Jesus's ministry he did heal the sick, RAISE the dead, Heal the lame, HE did them and u say that not once in history did this happen. IT DID happen and for us all not just those few who had that opportunity to see the savior. I testify God is not a liar. He heals, HE healed me. Doctors told me that I would never walk, not a chance unless a miracle happened. Let me tell u after a total of over 30 surgeries and numerous physical therapy and PAIN I am walking to this day. So please think twice about your question. Please read this with an open heart as Jesus Christ would let you to do. You need to live up to your Faith. Faith brings miracles. You need to have faith. Because The Lord answers prayers when you need them. Not when you want them. He knows you more than you know yourself. So, therefore he knows what u need and dont need. So, be patient and he will answer u. I promise you. HAVE FAITH that he answers your prayers. Read and study your bible and or book of mormon and i testify you will find the truth.

You can't order God to operate, or tell Him how to go about His Business. THAT is presumption. Miracles come in all shapes and sizes. Does it make them any less of a miracle if they're unpredictable? You don't get to choose your own. But in fact, amputees and others HAVE been healed, in far off missions where the Gospel is not familiar, and there would be a reason to perform miracles. YOU HAVE enough evidence, you just refuse to see it.

Copying and pasting material from the website 'Why Won't God Heal Amputees' doesn't convince me that you would recognize a more in-depth answer.

I think you answered your own enquiry.
It says he that believeth on me.
Asking to heal just to heal is commanding not asking for mercy. Also it is a presumption.

God is not a liar.
As a matter of fact I had something happen this week that the doctors cannot explain after testing. 3 times
Happens all the time in mine and my family's lives.
You may not believe me but I do not have to answer to you.
Only the Lord I answer to.

God Bless.

The Jews bitched and complained in the desert all the time even though they had everything to survive. Granted, it was an awful long time and a bunch of killing before getting to any promised land. So, since the beginning of time, people could not understand God's plans fully. You know, Paul also says that persecution and suffering builds our character and makes us stronger and more like Christ. That is the whole point of living our lives and Christ himself had to suffer. Do you think that God enjoyed watching his own son suffer?! This had to happen because of sinful people like us. Come on, even Satan thought he could get to him in the desert, (he was TEMPTED like any other human being, but chose not to go the lead of Satan). Of course I would like a magic wand to wave away my anxiety and neurological disorders, but I'm not going to sit around and feel sorry for myself or think of God in such small terms that I'm not of any use because of my disorders. Sometimes we don't get the answers we want, but life isn't all about what you want.

Why the question if you're convinced there's no God? Woudn't it have saved time and effort to just come out and say that? So now a bunch of people are going to waste their time answering you, and you're not going to believe them anyways. What's the point? How often do we have to go through the debate on Yahoo Answers of whether or not there's a God? Why does anyone else's faith bother you so much? Well, you got me to waste my time answering it. If that makes you happy, that's fine. May God bless you, and may you find the happiness you're looking for.
