Just spending time doing the things I love. Once he asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday, and at that moment, I just felt like lazing around and watching a movie. So, that is exactly what we did. It was one of the best nights of my life because it wasn't something I could hold on to, but something that I could remember.
If it is an object you are looking for, when you are out maybe walking around together where there are tons of stores everywhere, tell her that if she sees something she really wants, then you will get it for her. It can be her birthday or not...whatever works.

Wow....what a range of answers! Everything from "just being with me" to new cars!!!!
I'd say the best gift I've gotten from my man was not for any particular reason (not a birthday, not Christmas). I had been having a really rough week, and he just went out of his way every day for me. Little surprises....cooking dinner together, surprising me by doing stuff for me at my house while I was at work, holding me, trying to keep me grounded and sane when my world was otherwise in chaos.

I have been reading one book series since 1989. In that tmie period, I have been through a few husbands and a number of boyfriends.
Well, the one I am seeing now is the very first person to EVER buy me one of these books. Hes actually bought me two now.
I know a book doesn't sound like much to most of you... it is the actions behind the book that mean so much to me.

Last year my husband had to go to San Jose for 6 weeks and he had to leave the morning after my birthday. So when I woke up to take him to the airport (7am) he was already awake. He had gotten up at 4:30, went and did all the grocery shopping, did all the laundry, cleaned the entire house for me and made me breakfast in bed (with flowers) all before I even woke up.....

When we were in high school, my soon-to-be ex and I had this scrap book and I used to line the pages with those "love is..." cartoons...so for Valentine's day, he surprised me with this wooden handmade "love is.." picture that had the two characters woodburned in with the saying "love is....us"...
Right before we separated in March, he gave me a dog tag for my birthday with a pic of us and our daughter with the saying "One Love" etched around it...
Even though he wasnt the best husband or boyfriend, I'll give him that he put a lot of thought into his gifts...

Well the most important, appreciated gift? I know this might sound weird but, his virginity, on our wedding night. (We were both virgins when we got married.) But a gift that he saved up to buy me, it was for our 2nd year anniversary. He bought me a Lagos Caviar necklace and bracelet! Two things I will cherish forever. He knows me so well!
