I went wakeboarding last year and I had trouble maintaining a good grip on the rope. I was able to get up, but as soon as the boat went faster, the handle slipped out of my hands. I bought better gloves, but I'm looking for advice on strengthening my grip or advice on holding on properly? I'm going again soon and I want to get up and stay up this time!!

The key things to remember when wakeboarding are:

Keep you knee's slightly bent (this helps with balance)
Keep your arms straight (this stops you from falling backwards)
Hold the handle 'palms down' with your knuckles facing the boat (don't try to grip with your fingers)

It's possible that the boat is pulling away to fast. This can make it very difficult to hold on. Make sure the drivers pulls you out smoothly and keeps the speed between 22 mph and 26 mph if your learning.

Good luck with this and I hope you find it easier this time round

Try and hold the handle close to your hip. This will keep the center of gravity down around your core. If you let your hands too far out in front of you and too high, the boat has more pull against less resistance. Also make sure your driver is not pulling a too fast a speed for you too quickly until you have your technique down. Having a good driver is key to having a good session. Good luck.

Try an under-over grip. This is where one hand has palms up and the other palms down. It is the strongest grip you can have, if that doesn't work you are going to have to hit the grip machine. I have faith it will work. It is just new to you yet. Good luck.

you gotta holiday, I stay on the east coast and characteristic been wakeboarding for a protracted time i holiday on the sea via lack of lakes and it rather is complicated to get sturdy circumstances via loss of look after the uneven circumstances rather helped my using and my power, so while a flat calm day might arrive it would be straightforward. in basic terms my opinion.

constantly "cherry pick", basically just grasping and releasing your fingers like you were picking imaginary cherries.

also, while watching tv, pick up big books and other things and hold them out, set them down and pick them up , etc. When doing that, use as little arm muscle as possible, just use thumb and finger strength.

good luck!
