ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!

34 isn't even considered high risk yet....though 35 is considered AMA (Advanced Maternal Age), the risk of defects does increase with age, but my cousing just had a baby at 45 and they are both perfect.

(I don't advise having a baby at 45, but they had been trying and trying and suffered miscarriages, gave up and there was their baby).

I'm 34 and carrying my second. I have to say I feel worse, but it is summer and too hot out.

Make sure you eat healthy, don't smoke, limit caffiene (can impact fertility) and alcohol. I'd get on a prenatal vitamen....they have lots of folic acid which can help prevent many birth defects!

Well, I am 38, fat and out of shape...but I am 16 weeks pregnant and everything seems right on track with the pregnancy..... woman are having babies later and later now and it's no longer unusual. If you are thinking of trying, talk to your doctor FIRST. Ask about going on a prenatal viatamin now. It will only increase your chances of having a healthy baby. It has the proper balance of vitamins and folic acid that are so important in the first few weeks..... often woman don't start them until after the first 2 critical weeks because they dont know about the pregnancy yet. go get some good books on pregnancy and start reading on what to expect.

I am 41 years old I have a 2 year old. I have 6 children total my doctor did some extra testing. During labor my blood pressure had gone up a little. I believe if you preplan, start taking the extra vitamins you should do wonderfully. Remember with our medical technology today 30 is the new 20.

Hi, I am a mom of three. I had my last one two years ago at the ripe old age of 37. Worked great for me. Pregnancy seemed a bit on the whinier side. Someone said you have a lot more patience, it is so true. I am a much more relaxed mom now than I was at 26. You will do just fine and it will be a true blessing in your life. I cannot imagine my life without my kids, they are my world.

My grandmother had my mom at 45 years old. So, no its not too late. The only problem is the older you are when you have kids the greater chance they will be born with a defect. But, if you take care of yourself everything will be fine.

Not too late. Women are having children well into their 40's.
After 40 you would need to get an "amnio" (not sure how to spell it) to check for birth defects that are more prevelant as a women gets older. You still have plenty of time.

Anyway, you should be fine. Consult your gyn for educated info.

34 is still young enough to have a baby. Your ob may want to run a few tests that aren't usually standard, but everything should be just fine. Look at that lady that had a baby at 60 something.

More and more women these days are having babies in their late 30's and early 40's. As far as health goes, I would go see your doctor and have a physical exam and let her/him know what your plans are for conceiving. Your doctor can go ahead and put you on a prenatal vitamin. As far as convenience, babies change everything!! But, having a family is wonderful and I wish you luck!!
