The Word Love is a term for an emotion.
The greek philosiphers depicted 3 types Erios - the love of someone who you end up wanting and to posess
Philos - is the love of a family or friend and Agape - is the rarest and most profoundest of loves that asks nothing in return and has no catches - you just love them for who they are with or without them.
Love for me was when this person filled my life with colour and meaning. I found I could paint and write music again where I had not done these things for years. Every colour in everything you see seems so much brighter. The passion and intensity just added to this. Just try not to let it control you though and keep a healthy perspective as love alone without sensible thinking about ones future is not going to stay happy for long.
