Of course! Having a child in the spotlight, dressed as an adult, makeup, formals.........and innocence.

That exposure is enough to get any sexual predator to come lurking.

The bad thing about it, is the photos available, the being in sight (pageants) available for viewing...this leads to a stalker type existence, they could go for years stalking and the parent not having a clue.

I just read a statement from the Jon Benet Ramsey suspect where he said he was in love with the pageant beauty. It appears he followed the child from Atlanta to Boulder because of his obsession. So yes and yes to your question. I hope that other parents can learn this lesson from this tragedy. Hopefully that can be Jon Benet's legacy and people will stop the whole child pageant nonsense.

Yes I do and don't think that children that little should be wearing all of that make-up.Yes it's for the stage but so what. Why are they trying to make these little children out to look like women.I don't even wear make up don't need to and I'm 30.There are a lot of perverts out there and sex offenders.Maybe i would see things differently if they would take off the make up and be themselves. They can have the talent show but not those big fancy ballroom wedding dresses and high heels.I think that brings us back to Jon Benet.I think that it's a shame and we have to be careful who we let see our kids on stage.

I think so. It causes a child to "grow up" and act "grown up".

Parading a little child around in tons of makeup and heels to me is disgusting.

There are TOO many creeps in the world.

I think the parents do it more for themselves than for the child. Kind of like the people that have to have the most expensive flashy car to drive to show off.

I say, let a child be a child. Whenever they get older, let it be their decision to participate in pageants.

I really think they do. I would never let my daughter into those pageants and shows simply because little girls should not be dressed as adults with makeup plastered on their face. It looks weird to me, to see some little girl made up this way. Also it seems they put too small of dresses on them as well. What purpose does that serve?

It can be a little twisted, -but here in America, it can be a valid family activity with positive results for everyone.

So since it's not inheriently 'bad', - I'd think we should just leave it alone and leave those types of folks involved with these events.

Of course I may not know what I'm talking about. I'm a middle aged man with nothing to do with these kind of events.

Yes and it makes them believe that external "beauty" is all important. Moreover their parents are freaks who should be chastised.
