Okay, I know God allows him to torture people in THIS life (see Job) but does it actually mention anywhere his function in the afterlife? Or is this just another thing Christianity has added over the years? Please point me to specific verses in the Old or New Testament.

To xcr0ss: Where in my question did I say I believe in Satan or his supposed functions? It could be, I am having a debate with someone and I need evidence, which is actually what is happening. Thanks for being so rude, though.

By saying "get over it", yes you were implying that I believed the first part of your abrupt assertion.
Don't back off now just because you've been challenged.
Thanks for answering my stupid question. I've thoroughly enjoyed your stupid answer.

(1) Hell was designed originally for Satan and his demons (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10).

(2) Hell will also punish the sin of those who reject Christ (Matthew 13:41,50; Revelation 20:11-15; 21:8).

(3) Hell is conscious torment.

People have the idea that Satan is ruling (or will rule) in hell, torturing people for eternity. This idea came from Dante's Inferno, not the Bible.

Hell is not Satan's kingdom; it's his prison.
Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

There is no Satan
There is no afterlife
Therefore there is no torture.
Get over it.

and i wasnt saying that you believed in Satan. I said there was no Satan and there was no afterlife SO NO THERE IS NO TORTURE!!!! I answered your stupid question. And I cant point you to the new or old testament because it is fiction.

Get over it - get over the question. Stop the debate. its useless. Whether you believe in that crap or not, the debate is pointless either way.
I didnt realize I would have to explain my answer to someone so many times. And how did I imply that I was "backing off?"

Satan

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of God plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Satan is insane.
satan is an Angel not a Human Being.
To see the Result's of satan's Influence on Human Being's and a Little of what HELL will be like, go to an Insane Asylum (or what ever they call them today).
JOB opened the Door for satan to Destroy him, by Walking in Fear----Job said "What I have Feared Greatly, has come upon me". GOD Created the EARTH. Adam let the Devil's (insane Angel's) into it, and JOB opened the Door though FEAR to let those BAD Angel's Rule and Reign in his (Job) Life.
GOD is Innocent. GOD helps Human Being's all that WE will let HIM.
Adam blew it. satan and his angel's are the Destroyer's.
That's how it work's.
Hope this helps.

Have a look around you and tell me that Satan doesn't torture people in this life. Then tell me that he will change in the eternal afterwards life.
Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Also read Luke chapter 16 titled Lazarus and the rich man.
2Pe 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Why not go to something the Prophet Mohammad said (this gives me a chance to tell you something that I think is worth knowing, too). Suicide in Islam is a sin. It is not a good act. If a person commits suicide (these suicide bombers we hear so much about)-he will spend eternity doing over and over what he did to commit suicide. How would you like to keep blowing yourself up, over and over and over? This is true torture. Just thought this might be of interest to some of you. Forget all about that Paradise, virgins, and such these few people have been brainwashed into believing. They are uneducated fools who need to think they are important.

Satan doesn't torture anyone in the afterlife because he goes to the Lake of Fire along with his angels and anyone whose name is not written in the Lamb's book of Life.

Revelation 20:10- And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone where also the Beast and the False Prophet are. And they shall be tormented day and night forever and ever. 11 Then I saw a great white throne and He who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled. And no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and they opened the books. And another Book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged by the things having been written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to their works. 14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the Lake of Fire. This is the second death, the Lake of Fire. 15 And if anyone was not found having been written in the Book of Life, he was cast into the Lake of Fire.

No. They are special strong Angels that are commanded by God.

Quran ch 66:6
[6] O you who believe! Ward off from yourselves and your families a Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, over which are (appointed) angels stern (and) severe, who disobey not, (from executing) the Commands they receive from Allâh, but do that which they are commanded.

Satan will be tortured in Hell, and Satan cannot hurt true good believers (those who worship God alone).

Satan doesn't torture us in the afterlife. Hell is a ever ending party for all the smart people that didn't fall for the Church's bull.
