I often feel that everything presented to me needs to be addressed with an immediate response. I often am suspect of other peoples motives towards me. I recognize my insecurities and lack of self-confidence and am working on these particular issues. In the meantime the anxiety that I am experiencing is affecting me emotionally and physically and I fear will damage any chances of future friendships.

You need to visit your gp and be completely honest with them about how you are feeling they may decide to prescribe you mild antidepressants with beta blockers. Also you may want to ask for referral to stress management and assertiveness training thru your gp. I suggest these as anxiety and worrying about being anxious can sometimes increase the problem and become somewhat dibilitating preventing you from having the confidence to carry out normal everyday tasks. Also being referred to a psychotherapist can help you get to the route of your anxiety just through talking about the problem. Hope this helps some.

You would need professional help. Alternately take up yoga preferably under the guidance of person who can teach you a few yogic 'asanas'. You could do a few breathing exercises and some simple yogic exercises which will rid you of all your anxieties.

Figure out what you are afraid of. This will be painful but it is necessary to move on beyond the issue.
