I got a bad sunburn Friday from working on a roof all day at a Workout World...the back of my neck got really burned but my face is slightly burned.
well today my skin started peeling and I was just wondering what the best product is to use to stop or reduce peeling of the skin after a burn.
also, how long on average does it take for sunburn to go away?
im trying to stay inside but im also working as an electrician so im outside allot at work too.
Thanks

Use lots of soothing moisturizers to feel better but you can't stop the peeling - the skin has been damaged.
Take aspirin or ibuprofen as soon as you detect any sunburn. Either of these drugs will help to reduce inflammation and
control pain.
Cool, wet compresses or cool soaks for 20 minutes four or five times daily will also help with pain control.
Do not put butter or heavy ointments on the burned skin, as they can cause skin irritation.
Increased fluid loss can occur through badly sunburned skin, so fluid replenishment with is recommended - lots of water.
Avoid more sun exposure until the skin completely heals, usually within one or two weeks.
For your outside work use lots of sunscreen - SPF 30 is fie, and according to our family doc Ombrelle is the best one to buy - one of the few that are actually proven to work. You will have to reapply it regularly throughout the day.
Best of luck with it. I hope this helps.

You really cannot stop the peeling you have damgaed the skin and it is now dead. It has to come off, so the new fresh skin underneath can breathe. Get yourself a loofah or a buff pad for sluffing off dead skin cells. Moisturize alot and loofah everytime you have and area that is peeling. Do not loofah areas that are still very red. This will remove the ugliness of the peeling skin because it will take it off a little at a time leaving you with a smooth skin look insteadof the rough and varigated color look you get with peeling.

Aloe gel helps to reduce both discomfort and likliness of peeling but if you got a bad burn it's ganna peel. Once it starts to peel you can use a mild moisturizer as weel. Next time make sure you use pleanty of sun lotion.

I have the same problem due to a day at the lake on Saturday.
I have been scrubbing my face several times a day with a washcloth. You have to scrub a little extra hard which will act to debride (remove) the dead skin.
If you apply lotion to the dead skin it will take much longer to heal.
After I dry my face (very gently, it hurts!), I apply raw shea butter. You could also use cocoa butter or aloe vera.

Try applying cold moisturising cream to the burns (not something oily like petroleum jelly). Also try aloe or calamine lotion.
