My baby boy had Parvo (He was my first experience with Parvo) I now have a puppy from another rescue that survived and they asked if I would care for him so as not to expose other foster homes.
There is certainly something about watching them get to the verge of death and their fight to survive that makes them more special in my heart too.
Here is my foster looking for a home. He's to cute all the neighbors and my daughters friends love him and spoil him rotten too.

I have a 8 month old saint bernard that was rescued from a bad enviroment, he was 5 months old when i first layed eyes on him and thought i was going to bring him home. The woman that went and rescued him had me meet her at the vet because he was acting very sickly and very stinky. He did not get to come home with me until 13 days later when he left the vets office after recovering from parvo. He had a very bad case of the virus, and what takes most dogs only about a week to recover from it it took him 13 days. Thank goodness we have a wonderful, cheap vet that only charged 80.00 for 13 days. Most vets after 13 days would be a fortune, my vet loves animals, not people, and only cares about getting sick animals better than making a profit on their illnesses.
I love my saint bernard and he is so strong and healthy now you can never even tell he was so close to death a few months ago.

It is possible for a dog to live after having Parvo. It is all a matter of treating it in time. My sister is a vet tech and she has treated several puppies with Parvo that have lived.

I've questioned vets on this and they tell me that if they get the dog early on, that they can now save about 80% of them.
I had a rescue puppy that had parvo and she survived: so did her sister.

i had a little dog that had parvo. I had to force feed her every 4 hours and make her drink water. She lived and I loved her dearly.

yes most dogs either die or are put to sleep bcos owners dont want to spend alot of money making them better. Sounds like ur dog was lucky to have you as an owner and lucky to be diagnosed early on.
