I am a director of a day care center. My staff are feeling discouraged and down as they look at yet another school year starting. Do you know of any inspriational words that may make them feel better about themselves and the very important job they are asked to do.

I suggest finding out why your staff members are feeling down and discouraged. Do your staff members get along well with one another? Do they share ideas? Do they care for each others feelings? Or do they have a lot of back -stabbing? Talk to your staff and encourage them to work as a team.

If they are discouraged because they are working with that child who (and every teacher has at least one of them in his/her class) you pray please let that child be absent today, you can remind them that "SOME MOTHER LOVES THIS CHILD" and unfortunately we must sometimes add, "I HOPE".

Help them to understand that their job is the most important job in the world. Most children spend more time with their teachers than they do with their parents. While they are with us, we must love them and nurture them and give them security. School is the only place that some children feel safe and the only place that they get a good meal.

It is very easy to love the well-behaved, well-dressed, clean 'perfect' child. But we must extend our love to the child who needs it most, the child who does not have the best and is not always the cleanest is the child who needs a kind and loving teacher.

With out teachers there would be no doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc...
Those who CAN, teach. Every one else goes into some less significant line of work.

The best inspiration your teachers could get is you. I am also a directress in a preschool so we are the moving machine that can power their attitude toward the devotion of educating these young children . There are no words that can compare by your own motivational skills as a director. The way you talk to them and by especially showing your sunny disposition really makes the difference. You can simply inspire them by being sincere to their needs and concern. It is you that they look up to so be an inspiration to them.

I have taught for about 4 years and I can understand someone needing encouragement. I'm afraid that any inspirational words that I may offer would not be enough to keep you going. You need to find that inspiration within yourself because you need a wellspring that you can keep going to.

Sometimes I go back just because I need the money and that's enough until that inspiration comes from one child that you are able to reach or that one parent who really appreciates all the good work you are doing.

I can tell you this. I work at a day care myself and you know come to think of it i don't think my boss has ever gave us words of encouragement. With that said i would like to me commended on how good a job im doing. Make me know that i have one of the most important jobs in the world, taking care of other peoples kids. Maybe do something like employee of the month? Make sure when you go check the rooms to be positive. Tell them they are doing a great job a little compliment can go a long way. Believe me it will work;)

You can start by maybe getting some films of kids in 3rd world countries, showing how harda job they have of things. Then, start by telling your staff what they do is affecting the people that will be taking care of them someday. Then, let them know, that no matter what bad happens in the day,the kids happiness is paramount. Some of those kids will come from broken homes, mismatched parents, drama drama drama.IF they can come to your daycare, and are able to forget about all the troubles of the world, then what better reward than having kids laughing and playing in your halls, learning along the way.Hugs are the best instructional material that you have to work with.

I think that's sad that they are discouraged and down. I don't understand why? They are building futures for these children. Don't they enjoy working with kids? If not, then they shouldn't be there. Those kids look up to them and they should be making things fun and exciting. Music and Art and Physical activity might help throughout the day. Tell them to be creative and have fun!

" A Teacher's interaction with a child can exert a profound amount of influence."

Substitute parent's for teacher's and it is from my Human Behavior in a Social Enviroment textbook...sorry can't cite the author...I no longer have the book. How do I remember the saying? I made a plaque with this on it and it is hanging in my kitchen...the most hectic room in the house!

The dream begins with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you to the next plateau, sometimes reminding you of "truth, honesty, and respect."
