I think the most important things into that basket should be LOVE itself, Romance and Understanding within a faithfullness basket frame decorated with sincerity, respect and honesty. Enjoy your picnic:)U can already get those food stuff from Walmart but ask yourself how many times can you get this kinda picnic basket??

All of the above! I particularly love cubed cheeses, they look so cute :) and taste great with a nice Rosemount Traminer Riesling. Also, small pieces of hard toasted bread - perhaps a bruschetta topping of sorts, roasted peppers and tomatoes with a bit a olive oil. Fruit - strawberries, grapes, cherries. Some of those Carr crackers - I love the butterfly shaped ones! Those multi grain crackers are the best though and they are thicker then most - yummy. That would be my perfect romantic picnic basket -- to enjoy with my hubby of course. :)

Baguette of French bread or Italian bread, Cuban bread, Jewish rye, or other favorite.

Dijon mustard; spicy brown mustard; champagne mustard; horseradish sauce; mayonnaise; paté de foie gras; paté de campagne; truffle paté; or other favorite.

Sausages come in a large variety of flavors and nationality brands (make sure they need no cooking); also salamis, either hard or soft. Ready to eat meats include turkey roast, roast beef, corned beef, pastrami or any smoked products. In some stores you can find pre-cooked petite Cornish hens which would also go well with this picnic.

Fruits I would include are apples, pears, strawberries, peaches and melons and grapes.

Cheeses such a Camembert, Brie, Swiss, Canadian strong cheddar, goat cheese, or other ethnic favorites.

Wines can be varied. I would bring one bottle of red Bordeaux or Beaujolais or white Chardonnay or white Briolo. As for Champagne, I like Rose D'Anjou de Neuville or Perrier Jouet, Corbel or Frixenet. An ice chest will keep your wine or Champagne cold.

I go to Sam's Club and get this amazing fruit dip and I get some black cherries and strawberries to dip in it. And a bottle of Oliver Soft Red Wine, a loaf of fresh white bread from Walmart, and some mozzarella cheese. It always makes a great picnic basket for my husband and I.

well this was a very simple and quick picnic
it turns out that the location is where we were recently married but we look back on the picnic as a very special day tho i only packed
egg salad-with cumin
fresh pumpernickle
capital amber canned beer
water and grapes
we ate it on the face of a bluff after a long hike and watched eagles and turkey vultures as well as other great smaller songbirds
so it is not always what you pack that is important but the destination!
last night it was a chickpea salad with veggies from the garden and lemon pepper chicken with sesame bread
