Dear Citizens of the United States -

In light of the continuing failure of my administration, and the terrible mistake that I made in invading Iraq for political purposes, I hereby resign the Presidency of the United States, effective immediately. I apologize for my failure to lead the country, for my cowardice and lack of patriotism, and for my attempts to divide and weaken the nation.

[Then add something about how you're going to take Cheney down with you, and how you've renounced right-wing political Christianity and have decided to go ask Jimmy Carter for spiritual guidance]

Hope this helps! If I can do anything more, just let me know.

Address it to your supervisor/boss, date it, explain that you hereby resign from your position of _____ with _____(company) effective ______ (date). If there's a "nice" reason, you are resigning, you can explain briefly - e.g. I am resigning because I am returning to school, or I have accepted another position which better utilizes my skills. Then, in a few sentences, explain what was positive about working where you were - e.g. I have appreciated the opportunity to work for you, and have developed my _________skills, and have enjoyed working with the staff.
Then, give a nice closing - e.g. Thank you for your support during my employment., and close - Sincerely,__________.
Hope this helps. No matter what the circumstances, make the letter as polite and business-like as possible.

Start by saying that it was not an easy decision, but you have decided to accept a position with another company. State that the decision was not the result of anything the company did wrong, but that your new position has provided you with a more strategic opportunity to advance your career path.

Be sure to thank the company for the opportunities and training they have provided you because they have been an invaluable learning experience for you. Thank the management for their time and support and for the training they have provided to you.

Note that your last day will be (whenever it is) and offer to help train your replacement.

Thank them again, and sign the letter "sincerely, "

You don't want to burn bridges because you never know what might happen in life. Start off by saying how you enjoyed working for the company but that your career goals have changed and are not being met at your current station and you believe you have found a better fit somewhere else. Thank them for hiring you and tell them you have gained valuable experience, insights and friendships both on the personal and business level. Give them the obligatory 2 weeks notice (if possible) and continue to do a great job even though your time is short.

You want to tell your boss that you have appreciated the time/experience at your current job. Maybe go into detail about something that you have learned while there. Politely tell him/her that you are leaving effective such and such date. Normally two weeks notice is acceptable. Tell them something like you are pursuing another career, or moving on to better yourself. Something nice and polite is the point. You should never burn a bridge. You never know when you may need his/her reference in the future.

Like someone else said, don't burn bridges. I would tell them how much you enjoyed working for them and that you didn't want to leave but blah blah blah. You get the idea.
