Yes, thats the equivalent of getting you're heart ripped out of you're chest and stomped on. At least that's how I felt after i was told that by a woman. Don't let you're thoughts linger around ideas like "she will change her mind later" or I know she want's me, she doesn't know it yet". If you're ok with remaining her friend, then fine, do so. Otherwise, I would move on.

Well, at least for awhile. Although years later I did marry my best "guy" friend that I blew off in school, so all hope is not lost. Just remain friends, you never know what may happen.

Naaaa.... sometimes she just saying that because she doesn't want the complication with a relationship. Once a girl mentioned that to me, we met up a year later, had sex and continued to be "just friends".
