I've been watching what is going on with flying and can't help but feel that there has got to be a better way than stripping and intimidating passengers. I'm aware of the need for heightened security, but is this bullying and intimidation really nessesary? I haven't flown since earlier this year, but even then was a nightmare, with airport securities barking orders at seniors, Yelling at me because I couldn't get my laptop out of my briefcase fast enough, and then roughing up a little kid because she was setting off the alarm, and making her cry.
So am I the only one that thinks airport security needs to brought up to the 21st century?

Hi Melonie,

I was waiting for a Question like this.

I work for GM and therefore have to travel to every nook and corner of the world every month or so. I am getting so depressed every tI'me I have to fly because it feels like im a criminal for no apparent reason. I am always the one who is singled out for searches, my bags are savaged every time, my laptops is mishandled almost every time, one time a lady dropped it and the screen cracked, luckily the company replaced it.

Shoes are to be removed everywhere, no liquids allowed, i mean WTF

I think this has gone overboard

No you are not the only person who thinks it is rediculous. I flew last Friday and the worst part was that you couldn't take even your lip gloss or chapstick on the plane. It is bad enough they do not allow fluids (water, juices, etc), but the air is very dry and can cause dehydration. One of these days they are going to have a dead body on their hands from dehydration and would realize that some restrictions are very unreasonable.

I travel a lot for business and I dread everytime I have to fly out, you pretty much have to get naked in order to pass the security check points. If you find an alternate route of travelling other than driving and flying, let me know. I feel your pain.

All I have to say is thank goodness I don't live in the U.S. any more. I went back last summer and, although I didn't see quite the level of harrassment you seem to have seen or experienced, everyone did generally just seem crankier. I'm not exactly sure how you can make security that tight and still maintain friendliness, but ideally, it would be nice, yes.

Everything changed for us in the good ole' USA after 9/11. I have worked in the airline industry for nearly 30 years and I have had enough. I will retire before the year is out. Enough is enough!

I refuse to fly in the current atmosphere. It is outrageous. I won't tolerate it. I remember the 1960s and 1970s when it was FUN. What a shame.

Yeah, it totally sucks now. You can't even carry hand luggage on the plane anymore.Your only allowed ur passport, ticket and any medication u need.

They are getting too strict and it needs to change a little.
