i live in arlington, virginia, just outside washington, dc, and i'd venture to say that washington, dc would have to rank at the top of the list. it's not a warm and fuzzy place like nashvillle, tennessee, where i went to college.

Most unfriendly place, by far, is Detroit so far. If you say hi to someone on the street, you might get a beatdown!

Minneapolis, MN
The people there (majority) are pretentious, shallow, and condescending. They are quick to look down their noses at you and let you know whatever you're wearing is "last season".
I read a few answers about DC being unfriendly, however my experience with DC, Alexandria, Arlington, etc, was that it was freindly. It seemed that people there promoted diversity. It was a highly transient area...unlike MPLS, where the people there seemed as if they have never been outside the state, and everyone knows each other, and newcomers are considered "intruders".

I'll go with both Detroit and DC. Detroit just scared me witless. DC, people treated me like I was a moron if I didn't know exactly where I was going or I wanted to stop and look at something!

People told me NYC would be rude, but most people here came from somewhere else, and they were real nice to me when I needed it! I try to do that for others now.

I don't understand why they aren't like that in DC, since most people there also came from somewhere else.

Most big cities I've visited were largely unfriendly, got out of them as soon as possible. Went to the country side where people were nicer. Of all, I'd say Paris was was the most unfriendly.

There are a couple I would consider "Un" friendly.......Chicago and Los Angeles........everyone always seems to be in such a hurry and look at you like your from a different planet if you ask a question or interupt their lives in any way. And to drive in either of these places is unreal. Here where I live, you try to be polite and allow people access to streets or highways...you know..considerate.....but not there......you better not even ask for directions.....cause you won't get them or they will give the wrong ones....I found both places very rude !!!

Ocho Rios in Jamaica was pretty unfriendly, I was quite scared of some of the characters there! We were hassled to by cocaine as soon as we got off the tour bus.

I also found Amsterdam quite unfriendly, the taxi drivers kept taking us to the wrong place and dumping us in the middle of nowhere and charging us lots of money, I was scared!!!!

Most unfriendly city for me was Venice, Italy. The city is incredibly beautiful, the most beautiful of any city I have ever visited, but the people were cold, and unsmiling. Very sad!

The Apostle Islands in Wisconsin. That's not the name of the town, but that general area. Weird, weird people.
