I have fasted before for seven days and lost quite a bit of weight. The main benefits however are that your body flushes all the toxins out and starts to repair your body by using all the diseased and damaged cells in your body as fuel. It would also be a good idea to have some fruit juices while your fasting as they will provide your body with essential vitamins needed during the fasting process. Juices with low levels of citric acid are best for this, such as cranberry, pomegranite, grape ect. It will definately improve your health and if you have a good diet of nuts, vegetables, pulses, fruit, fish and white meat then you will definately lose a lot of weight AFTER you have finished fasting as you will find that the better quality of food will give you more energy and keep you full for longer, meaning you will eat less in general. There are many sites on nutrition which I hope you have researched before fasting. Also do not exercise or do anything strenuose while fasting as your body is redirecting your energy to other body functions such as your immune system.

You may lose weight, but any weight that you lose will likely be both fat and muscle. Not eating is a very unhealthy way to lose weight. 199lbs at 6'3 is not obese by any means. Such drastic measures to lose weight are not necessary. Consider lowering the fat and caloric content of your diet and exercising a little more. Walk for 20 minutes a day or ride a bicycle.
Nothing good will ever come of not eating. You will only hurt your body.

There is a better way to do this, water fast do detoxify but are temporary and you lose muscle and gain fat when you're off of it.
Look for the lemonade diet, it's on the net you can stay on it longer, get necessary nutrients and lose fat not muscle.
I loss 15 pounds in five days , there's only three ingredients. Lemons , grade b maple syrup and cayenne pepper (use the pills). All of my friends thanked me.
Heath benefits I had edema for ten years , it was gone in two days and never came back, There are many other health benefits, it is a cleansing diet.
Good luck

This is very dangerous! Fasting for that long is bad for your body. If you want to fast, why don't you do a Ramadam style fast? For a whole month they fast during the day, but have meals at 6pm. The Arabs do this during November time, interestingly though, there's a lot of diabetes over there! But why do you need to lose weight? your height and weight are very good - my hubby is 220 at 6'2, and works out a lot, and complains he doesn't weigh more!

if your blood sugar is so high to the point of being diabetic, it's not WISE to go on fasting. consult your endocrinologist regarding diets for diabetic as any other diet might be dangerous for you.
small frequent feeding is the key here. you can't have too much or too little sugar in your body at any given time. eat in moderation.
and yes, 199 for a 6'3" is not fat at all in my book. just yummy cuddly. so if you're not diabetic, just cut down and drink 8 glasses of water a day.

depends on what kind of fasting you are gonna do, if it is like MUSLIMS , it will make u feel and looko good, meaning during the day nothing to eat and drink even no smoking if u ever, and the fasting starts from the sun rise to sunset. Btw, fasting is healthy if you apply the correct one. There are 1.4 billion people in the world fast during the Ramadan month for a month and no one dies of it . Plus if you think u cant stand fasting then u can quit anytime u want...

If you fast for that long, don't work or excercise. Sit in restful poses. If done correctly, fasting with yoga can improve blood sugar issues. One way it can help is by reducing addiction to carbohydrate.
Don't screw with it unless you are going to follow through with a continued dedication to a sensible diet. Oh, and break your fast with light food such as fruit.
And you may need some potassium. And be sure to give up and quit after a few days!

Fasting is one of the worst ways to lose weight, and can, in fact, hurt your body. Never, EVER, lose weight fast, and starve. YOu will gain the weight and then some later on with these absurd diet plans.
Simply eat less and sensibly, and exercise more. It's all a numbers game. Input vs. output.

Hi
I really would not advice you to fast as it could really cause you more harm than good ,instead try this programme it really works,
If you are serious about losing weight, the calories in the food you eat should be less than the energy you use. You will have to increase your metabolic rate now, and plan your diet carefully.
Formulate your own weight loss plan and you will lose weight faster. More details available at http://tinyurl.com/m7ckx
Good luck
