You should do both, alternating days. Both will lengthen and strengthen your body. As for weight training, you're building lean muscle. It is extremely hard for a woman to build bulk. We are just not built that way.

Unfortunately you can not target any specific area when burning fat. Your body decides where to store fat and it also decides where it will remove it from first. Pilates will tone your entire body and make you much more flexible. Strength training will help you build more muscle. Something to think about. To lose weight, you must burn more calories than you take in. While pilates will increase your metabolism and burn calories while you do the exercise, weight training will give you more muscle. Muscles are active tissue that burn calories even when you are at rest. So you will burn more calories and during and after the workouts. As far as "bulking up" as long as you don't turn into a body builder, many guys like it when girls have some muscle.

I would say weight training. The key is the amount of weight and the amount of repetitions. Go with a lighter weight, 5 pound dumb bells instead of 20's for curls, but you do three sets of 20 repetitions instead of three sets or 8 or 10. Comprendes? I used to be a long distance runner and I lifted weights all the time. I didn't lift to get bigger. It was all for strength and tone. Man, I looked good. I wasn't an Arnold S, but I was lean and mean. Go with the weights. I could give you a regime if you want. Let me know.

Pilates or Yoga, but hun if your only 14 dont stress about it, your body is changing and growing all the time. All I have ever done is limit junk food and excersise moderatly and I have been the same weight and appox size for over 15yrs.
