You ask a couple questions there: 1) Is it possible to unite the world as a single country? 2) Can we all speak the same language? 3) Can we use the same currency?

To the first two questions, I think the answer is yes. However, and forgive any speculation, I think uniting the world under a single government would require an external attack: aliens or a natural threat. Humans unify only when forced. Look at the way that the city-states of Greece, the states of America, or the countries of Europe are unifying: they do it for mutual security from an external threat (Persia, the European powers, and competition from America and China, respectively).

However, we will never all speak the same language. Even if it did happen temporarily, dialect differences would eventually grow into entirely different languages; even Britian and America will speak different languages in 300 years, simply from linguistic drift.

I think it is possible to unite the world as a single country, but only without centralized power and with no currency at all, and of course there could never be a restraint to only one language or current culture. Languages should and would be kept in a multi-cultural world. Currency is at the root of most problems of today's societies, most of the bad doing today wouldn't be done if people had no monetary gains from it. The distribution of currency is a big problem, but making it fairer wouldn't stop human greed. Globalization doesn't work out for the best in the world we currently live in because there's too much segregation, elitism, racism, sexism, patriotism and all kinds of bigotry still present in the poorly educated closed minds of humans all around the world. Then there's the fact that the kind of thought that could lead into a unification of the human race cannot possibly be imposed, it has to come from within. Only education can help in that sense, but educators today still possess the same flaws that keep the world from being united. People have to learn of respect, tolerance and cooperation and leave all prejudice behind before any such concept can be perceived on the horizon as something real and to strive for. The belief that utopia is an impossibility should not keep us from trying to go as far as we can go in its direction. We don't have to be perfect, but we can and should try to become the best we can. Be the change you wish to see in the world.

global language is English, it is easiest for all of us all around the world to understand. As for single currency, it has started with things like the Euro and the Americas talking about a combined currency but thats still far, far away.

No because language is an identity and no one wants to give up their identity. Would you give up your language in the name of globalization?

Currency would be easy to do though. Look at Europe and the Euro.

Plus who says we all need to speak the same language to have globalization. We just need to stop fighting.

If we did decided on a language that was universal, then I think it should be a new language developed by linguist that would be easy to learn.

The language of Global Commerce is English, so I think thats covered, while most use gold as an international currency, so maybe it is united already, at least much more than you think.

Globalization means better communications & the ability to co-exisit between the existing cultures not moulding everyone into one pattern, besides who will decide which language & which culture will be the best for all, wouldn't choosing one over the rest be unfair?

I doubt that any of us will live that long, but the Euro seems to have been a step in the right direction. Also, the personal exchange of ideas made possible by the internet.
