If your definition of 'fundamentalist' is to go back to the basic fundamentals of Islam - the five pillars - and practice those to the best of your ability, then yes. A Muslim should make the declaration of faith, make daily prayers, give charity, fast during Ramadan, and strive to make pilgrimage at least once in their life.

However, if you mean in the sense that it is used in the media - meaning terrorist, suicide bombers, etc - then NO, NO, NO!!!! A terrorist is not following the tenets of Islam, because killing non-combatants and comitting suicide are both forbidden.

Should a Muslim be a good man? Of course, everyone should strive to be good. Wouldn't the world be a much better place if everyone strove to be 'good'?

Of course a bad human can become Muslim. The only requirement to become Muslim is to sincerely believe that there is only one God and that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the final prophet of God.

If people had to wait until they were perfect to become Muslim, then no one would ever qualify. When I became Muslim 10 years ago I was an alcoholic, and all praise to God, I was able to overcome that addiction.

Of course a Muslim can be a bad human. Islam is a way of life, but not everyone actually lives their life according to Islam. Think about the people who are called 'Christmas and Easter Christians' because they are not very involved in their religion - this is something that probably happens in all religions.

God (Allah) is the only perfect thing - people are just people.

The right picture of lslam is conveyed in the Qur'an, which is exemplified by Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. The reality is that it is not fair to judge a religion by the actions of its followers alone because there are good and bad followers in every religion. The correct thing to do is to judge a religion by its documented revelation from God and the prophet who brought that revelation.

I encourage Christians and other religions to learn about Islam from Muslim sources and The Basis Of The Muslim Belief and not rely on second hand information which in many cases is distorted or contains a deep seated anti Muslim agenda. This is indeed a more scholarly approach. I think any one will not accept from his enemy to give informations to the world about his life and his belief

A Muslim, like any one else on the planet, is free to interpret their faith as they see fit. There are Christian fundamentalists, Jewish fundamentalists, Hindu fundamentalists, et all. However, when anyones faith seeks to destroy anothers faith, that is no longer faith but hate and intolerance. Otherwise, all humans of all faiths should strive to be 'good', or the best they can be.

Man is good or bad as man chooses to be. That does not reside in any particular religion or religious sect. All should strive to be good men, be they Muslim, Jew, Christian , Atheist, whatever...
