I honestly believe that psychiatrists are nothing more than a high priced friend. I teach 4th grade, and a student asked me to explain what the spelling word psychiatrist meant. I told her he is someone you go to and tell all your problems to and he listens and gives you advice on how to handle your problem. I continued saying that if you have a very close friend who honestly loves you and cares about you, that you can save a whole lot of money by telling them your problems and listening to their advice. The fact is, a friend cares about you, and a psychiatrist cares if your check will clear the bank. This is off the subject but so cute. That little girl came up to me at recess time and said, " Mr. ******, will you be my psychiatrist? She went on to tell me about family problems, but she broke my heart to think that someone so young would be so hurt.

It depends on what the shrink is/isn't doing. I didn't much care for my shrink either. They make you talk about things that you would rather forget.

It's not you. Most people think of nurses as "meanies" too, when in fact, it's just that thier job is to tell you what you don't want to hear and make you do what you do not want to, in hopes to keep your safety and sanity in place. Stick with it, it pays off in the end.....good luck
