Live it! Your kids will learn more from watching how you handle the struggles of life than from anything else. Do you pray? Do you trust the Lord? Do you read and study the Bible in front of them? Do you talk to your kids about what the Bible says and what you believe?

Rather than sitting them down each day for a Biblical doctrine lesson, use those teachable moments to share with them Biblical principles which you can then relate back to scripture. Your children being homeschooled give you lots of opportunities to share your own experiences with the Lord. Show them current events in the news and discuss with them how that fits in with scripture. Share with them what your church's doctrine teaches and share with them why and how you either agree with it or disagreee with it and why. Back everything you tell them with scripture so that they know that your aren't just making it up as you go along.

And last but certainly not least, pray for your kids and let them know that you are praying for them. Pray for wisdom, strength, and biblical knowledge for them. They are growing up in a sinful, diseased world and without a faith that is grounded, they fall into the many enticements that this sinful world will offer them.

God Bless you and your kids!

A Beka has good curriculum.
Depending on the age of the children, you could read some of the Old Testament stories... Daniel, Abraham... These show faith. Read about Jesus and even acts. If they are older, Pick a topic and see what the world says...IE the news, and then look it up in the Bible. (a concordance is useful here).

Hi Tracy, I homeschool my children, too. We are beginning our 5th yr. I am plugged in to an awesome Bible based church with very solid and active children's and youth programs. Our children's pastor and youth pastor are awesome and teach my kiddos sound doctrine. I addition my youngest is on a Bible quiz team and my oldest is involved in youth Bible studies and such.
At home, we do several things. First, devotions. For my oldest, she has a time of Bible study and prayer before she begins her day, while I read to my youngest. I use The Child's Story Bible by Vos, for him. Very solid. Sometimes my oldest will come in and listen. I've also used bible on audio to play during art time, last year I had them make Bible notebooks using the Ignite The Fire approach (google it)
This year I am using Lifepacs Bible curriculum. That's AOP (again google it) you can go to their website and look at a scope and sequence to see what it teaches at each grade level.
good luck

Take them to a church that teaches the word of God verse by verse, Chapter by Chapter.

In most churches to be taught the word will only take you about 350years to hear it all if then! read a verse and then run the mouth for an hour on what this man thinks is good.

My self I want to know what God thinks is good!

There are a few out there that do here is one:

I find it ironic that you ask this question, yet you need to point out that you are specifically interested in areas that the Bible is clear on. It's like you actually acknowledge that the Bible is filled with confusing double talk, hate speak, God killing over 2 million people, God telling Christians not to eat shrimp and lobster.

Why not simply give them a general religious overview of various religions, and then let them make up their own minds when they are older?

Show them what you believe and why, then let them make up their own minds about what they choose to believe. If you force your religion on them and punish them for questioning what the bible says, they will rebell and hate your religion and maybe even you as well. I was raised in church and was told it was the only way to believe by my parents who were pastor and school head mistress, went to a private christian school with very few students, and as soon as I was on my own, I flushed my oppressive christian upbringing down the toilet. And, I've been a happy atheist ever since.
Your best chance to get your children to accept what you believe is to teach and nurture them, but not to put them in a box with the bible and shake 'til done. It doesn't work.

From the Bible. There are a number of good Bible courses for children, so take your pick. One of my favorite ones is http://thebiblestory.com/ . It's been around for over 40 years, and their flagship series, The Bible Story books (in the blue covers) cover the entire Bible with stories written for younger minds, plus there are chapter references so you can look up the stories in the the Bible.

Children tend to imitate what parents do so if parents have a sound religious background and are good christians, that's education enough for them to follow. There are books for children and perhaps stories with parables that relate to real life situations and everyday happenings would be a good idea. Articles from newspapers about violence etc, are good stories to bring about questions on how one can love your neighbor and ask them to demonstrate examples etccc you'll get the hang of it! There are also books on cathecism for children available in good christian bookstores that you can check out on.

Not sure what parts you have concern for. Teach them from the Bible always. The parts that they may be to young for, tell that when they are mature enough to hear it. Would love to know what parts you have trouble with. Maybe I can help you teach that part or like I said avoid it for now.

Try using the A Beka program. They supposedly teach sound doctrine.
