I did it gradually by adding Vitamin D milk to replace the formula. After about a month my kids were on Vitamin D milk and then I started to gradually mix the Vitamin D with 2%. If your child has had problems in the past with formula or anything, you might want to consult your physician. Otherwise go with your "Mother's Instinct"! Good luck in this transition. I know it's sometimes it can be a tuff decision as to when and how to do it, but whatever you decide I hope it goes smooth for you!

I started out by mixing the two together... everyday I used less formula and more milk... after a couple days he was drinking just milk. At first I was warming it up, but then I tried it cold and he drank it so I stopped. My sister said it took awhile for my niece to take cold milk, she would take cold formula but would only drink the milk if it was warmed.

first I switched from a bottle to a sippy, then I started just giving him formula first thing in the morning and right before bed. and offered milk throughout the rest of the day. He was eating a lot of baby food so he wasn't dependent on the formula for most of his nutrition.

With my first son, we weaned him off of it. For one week, we mixed up his sippy cups with 3 parts formula and 1 part milk. Then the second week was 1/2 and 1/2. The third week was 3 parts milk to 1 part formula. The final week (and from then on out) was straight milk.
With our second son, we just gave him milk cold turkey. His ped. said that the weaning them onto it was just for babies who refused it. Our younger son LOVES milk. We never had a problem with it (thank God!).

i just did it. i never mixed anything, i didn't do it slowly. i finished up the formula can and opened a jug of milk next time. formula tastes horrible so i don't see why any child would have a problem going from formula to cow's milk. maybe some do, mine didn't.

My daughter's pediatrician told me to start mixing her formula with milk. He said to make her boittle/sippy cups half formula half milk and then to gradually lessen the amount of formula and increase the amount of milk. It seemed to wokr on my daughter. It only took me about 2 to 3 weeks to get her drinking milk only.

On eof my twins just took to cows milk straight away just as long as it was in a certain cup, the other resisted....and resisted and resisted!
We were advised to mix formula and milk and just adjusting the balance until it was all cow milk and no formula. She had no problems then.

Hey what about dads?? It was an easy transition for both my children actually...I started with 2-3 ounces every other day, of whole milk and both of my children hated it..but the key is to be consistent. Once they started drinking the 2-3 ounces and enjoying it, I moved to 2-3 ounces every day to 4-6 ounces a day, sometimes every other day. My one year old now, can't get enough of the stuff!
