I doubt this hypothetically situation would occur as Canada will open up Alberta oil long before the Middle East runs dry. By conservative estimates Albertan oil would be able to last the US and Canada for about 100 years. Given the rate of technological advancement we will both have improved upon current fuel efficiency and improved upon alternative fuel sources within this 100 year time. While demand for oil will grow (due to an increase in population demanding oil), the overall demand should shrink due to these aforementioned improvements. I don't think getting Albertan oil would even come to war (we did manage to somewhat resolve Softwood -- with oil we wouldn't have the NAFTA problems anyways).

So, while the Middle East still has some time left; even if it were to run dry tomarrow, there exists a more sensible solution than invasion of Scotland.

I think it doesn't matter who the president is. If we haven't developed an alternative to oil by the time that the middle East (or whoever we end up getting oil from), then any president will be forced to seek other options, including military force, to provide for the nation. After all, remember: the job of the United States president is not to care for the whole world, or keep the world safe; it's to enact the laws of the United States, for the benefit of United States citizens and their needs.

Of course, any president will try to negotiate for the sale of oil, as conquest and invasion are horribly expensive, and unless Scotland (or any other country) intentionally tries to gouge the United States (in which case we'd hopefully invade just to teach a lesson), then you have nothing to worry about. Deal fairly, and the US will be your best friend. It's when you cheat and try to rob us that we freak out. ;)

Since, based on current usages, there are hundreds of years worth of oil left, and with alternate energy sources being continuously sought, then not only will Bush not be around and Scotland probably will have gone 100% homosexual (it's, what, 50% now?) but there will be no need for it.

I find it funny that all these people are so sold on the fiction that Bush is some oil fiend, yet they don't seem to have noticed his finger-wagging lectures to us (thanks, Dubya, but I already have a mommy) about our addiction to oil.

This is known as cognitive dissonance - where people steadfastly hold their beliefs, despite it's being constantly disproved by reality.

Bush will most likely be dead by the time oil in the M E is depleted. We'd drill more of our own oil if it wasn't for the leftists in our country fighting against it. Have no worries, unless you become a harbor for terrorists.

Bush will not be president in a couple years... Scotlands oil will be controled by England and used by them. We'll never see it

Hate to tell you this, but we have quite a bit of rich natural oil underneath American soil. The only reason we aren't tapping it is because of the tree huggers. But when they finally get cold, the drilling will commence.

As long as the oil industry is putting money in Bush's family pocket, anything is possible.
Bush is, after all, from a family who has made their money in the oil business.

No, he'll probably invade the Isle of Wight as the quality of oil is far better
