direct answer: if you want real cheap, you can buy Palladine, Akira, etc. Among the branded one Samsung is the best bargain (i just bought one last month and happy about it).

The adv of LCD is longer life, no burnout. But plasma has a better contrast (good for daylight viewing) and the bad part is it generate lot of heat (after few hours it is hard to touch the screen with bare hands)

I do not have plasma but i do have LCD Bravia, and Sony are now this days pretty cheap in comparing with other TV makers so why don't you try Sony Bravia LCD?

i wouldn't get plasma if you got people playing video games for best tv and high stuff i would get LCD
