Backwards, head tilted back. That means you never get the shampoo or conditioner running down your face and irritating your eyes. Also that method seems to reduce the amount of knots after washing as the water runs straight through your hair and you don't really have to use any "scrubbing" movement to remove the shampoo or conditioner.

I've read that you're supposed to stand facing the water and look down but I tried that and I didn't like it but I did discover I have a fear of drowning. So, I always stand with my back to the water and tilt my head back.

tilt head back.. run your hair with water... squeeze excess water.. condition ONLY the ends.. rinse.. conditon ends again ( leave it in ) .. shampoo scalp ONLY ( with conditioner still on ) .. then rinse..

wet hair, apply fave shampoo, massage scalp and hair, rinse, apply fave conditioner, massage scalp and hair... uhm re ur question...back facing the shower
