The BEST soup I ever had is, unfortunately, seasonal. Available in Austria and Germany, Eierschwammerl-Suppe is LOADED (thick as a stew) with a seasonal variety of mushroom and is available just during a few weeks in summer.
My other favourites include Hot and Sour, Griessnockel (chicken broth with small semolina dumplings), Knorr Fine Herb, and ULTRA THICK homemade vegetable soup.

My absolute favorite is lobster bisque, I never made it myself, but had it at a restaurant and it was incredibly good. Here are my top 5 favorites:
Lobster bisque
Clam Chowder
Homemade Chicken noodle
Chicken & Stars :) (Campbells)
Mrs. Grass soup (comes dry in box) w/ extra rice added

Corn Chowder...especially Paula Deen's recipe for Chef Jack's Corn Chowder. I made it for a soup-a-thon for a women's group that I belonged to, and won first prize. Find the recipe at www.foodtv.com.
